When cranking your mustang do have to press the clutch let off of it then press it again? Doesn't happen every time but pretty often.

I don't think so. I press the start button after my feet are on the brake and clutch.

Clutch in, press the start button.

However, it takes a solid hit. I've hit it with a glancing punch that didn't quite engage the starter then it seems to want to wait to start again so I go clutch out then back in and it usually works after than.

Nope. Butt down, clutch in, one push of the button.

Same scenario for me... the only time this hasn't been the case for me, in my admittedly short period of ownership (bought on the last day of July this year) was user error... I didn't have the clutch fully depressed.

When I first got my car, I thought there was something wrong with the starter or clutch engagement when starting. It ended up being user error. If the light on the start button doesn't illuminate and stay illuminated, push the clutch in further. You don't have to press the clutch twice, just hold the clutch in while starting. I was surprised at how much force it took to hold the clutch down while starting.

I don't know how you do it, but I always start my car in neutral, never when it's in gear. Just a habit I guess. More often than not, I put it in neutral at a stoplight as well. If you leave the car in gear at a stoplight, you are damaging the clutch. Nothing that harmful if you want to continue doing this, but just pointing that out.

Occasionally, if I press the start button too soon, it will not fire.
I usually wait until the fuel pump stopped priming before I hit start button.

Exactly what I do. I make sure cars in neutral, press in clutch, wait for prime to end, and press the button. I have not had an issue once with this car.

Ok so totally off topic but... is a 29" inseam considered short? I feel like that would be normal?

I'm 6'4" and I usually wear a 34" inseam, sometimes 32" with brands like Lucky that run big.
