I have a question for the guy that have the newer "shark fin" Sirius / XM antennas on their Mustangs. Can you tune to channels higher that 299 on Sirius? My 16 will not go any higher and the channel I like is on 301.

Is channel 301 in your subscription?

Could be just the Ford system. My wife's Nissan Altima gets a channel in the low three hundreds that I like to listen to. Two years ago when I bought my F-150, I could not tune to that channel. When I went to start the subscription on my F-150, they told me that manufacturers can either chose from the Sirius system or old XM system, hence the reason I don't get that channel on my F-150. (I can't remember which system the F-150 comes with.) Not sure on my 2020 GT, haven't looked for that channel yet, but guessing it will be the same since it is a Ford.

Is that in the APIM? That's the only module that changed for 2020. Haven't tried my 2019 Bullitt for the highest channel, but will try channel 301 next time I drive the car. I assume it won't work.

So basically other than streaming the channel I would need to update my Sirius radio to the 2020 version.

Checked my 2019 XM yesterday during a trip, and it only went to channel 216, so same thing as previous models.

I don’t see the issue here.

For those that don’t have Sirius subscription tied to their car (or any other “app”), but have the app or program on a mobile device - all you need to do is:

Select the app on your mobile device.
On your phone or mobile device, turn BT to “on”.
In the vehicle (Mustang or other), in the radio options menu select “BT” or whatever it may use to stream sound.

Boom - you have whatever sound or music you want in the vehicle being streamed from your mobile device.

Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, whatever - Sirius, it all works in the same manner; you don’t need to have the actual app or program on the vehicle’s head unit.

I’ve been streaming Spotify since 2018 exactly like above in my S550 - w/o using any Ford approved apps or freaking CarPlay BS. For me, I have had a Sirius subscription for eons, so whatever package you have paid for, it should always include all channels everywhere....

I’ve never heard of a difference in S550 antenna technology that can selectively allow a user to have a paid subscription, but then can block out certain channels from that paid package... LOL.

Go into your Sirius User account and make sure you’re not blocking channels or music genre.

Also to note, in some Ford’s with the newer SYNC technology, you can hide or block out Sirius channels - I did it when I had a 2020 Ford Explorer ST loaner earlier this year... I forget exactly how I did it, but you have to go into the settings for Sirius. Make sure someone didn’t block out channels or music genre.

There was a change in the radio for 2020. Not sure if that coincided with the change to the shark fin.

Its odd, I have a 2020 but it has the flat hockey puck antenna.
Yes, because it was an inline change during the model run. Can you check to see if you have channel 301. If you can it would show that you have the new radio and that the shark fin doesn't effect it.
