I just want people to stop saying all the time how heavy are cars are, happens at car meets, at the drag strip, street runs, everywhere. They're not that heavy, makes mustang guys look and sound like a bunch claimers looking for excuses.

That's a tenth of a second in the quarter! :first:
That was the rule back in the fox body days. 10hp=.10 of a second.

These cars, weighing 4000 lbs don't seem to get a tenth for every 10hp. It takes more hp to move the weight the heavier it gets. I hope that taking off 100lbs may get me more than a tenth, anyone have any any numbers that can back this theory up?

Are PP's that much heavier? My base GT scaled at 3680 lbs. One of the reason why I got the base model.

I'm already slow enough! I would love to take out 100 then another 100 and see if the second 100lbs made a bigger difference!

Yes! Bigger brakes, rotors, cooling systems... my seats are heated and cooled... heavier axles... weighted 3780 without me.... 3980 with me...

In fairness, is there really a 4 seater car with a v8 and stick that weighs less?

My 300C SRT8 whippled hemi was HEAVY (4600lbs), these cars are average to light IMO
I will agree, for a modern day car to weigh 3,800lbs or less it's considered to be ok I guess. IMO they are all pigs weight-wise (save for the C6 ZO6). I had a Fox-body when they were the $hit on the streets of America. Now, if we could get these late model Hot Rods to leave the factory weighing around 34-3600 lbs - But when you look at some of the Chargers & Challengers that tip the scales at 44-4600 lbs, the S550 is a bantamweight :D

Is that weight up to date? My premium pp was 3720 (I'm guessing with a 1/4 to 1/2 tank fuel). The aluminum ds and full exhaust save a good chunk as well

Yes.... with 1/2 tank of gas. As of today it will be a little lighter, putting Baer Eradispeed rotors on. 30 lbs or so... and some of the new suspension parts were a little lighter (4lbs), new clutch should be around 5lbs lighter....

It will start adding up. The DS was lighter, but each axle was prob 10lbs heavier, so a push there.

Scale to Scale may vary slightly... GTBOB weighed exactly 100 lbs less on same scale same time.

I was at the track last night knocked 2/10th's off my previous time & only thing a changed was the addition of 17 inch race stars and new 275/40/17 nt05r. They dropped 12lbs each off my daily wheels. The reduction of rotating mass is equates to double in of dead weight, So in reality its the same as losing 48lbs of dead weight. I ran and 11.7 at 119 with a 1.6 60 ft.. but there's more in it cause i' m still spinning Also ran with a full tank of e-85. The new tires are not yet broken in. I ran that time with full tire pressure in the rears. Then the track got bogged down with track incidents and got crowded so i called it a night. Gonna be looking at some serious weight reduction as its clear it has a big impact on et.

Between you and Evil5.0 I hope people start to realize just how well the chassis/suspension and weight reduction worked for RBS550 and his low 10 second NA setup that I highly doubt made 500whp.

Not taking anything away from anyone but Im just trying to point out how far a well sorted chassis and weight reduction goes instead of everyone just focusing on big HP numbers!

As the air keeps getting cooler its interrsting to hear from peopme that have been to the track multiple times amd seeing what they are starting to pickup late in the season now too.

I totally agree! RBS550 is BA and 400lbs is worth a lot of ET. I would love to see dyno numbers on that car.....

Cars picking up because its cooler!?!?:eyebulge: No way!! DA has no effect on E85 cars lol

Dominate1, congrats on the improvement.....keep it up:cheers:

It's not always about chasing big hp numbers. Not for me anyways...hell if it was I would've went FI, and it would've saved me some money. I'm going to try and shave as much weight as I can off mine now too. WITHOUT taking out my heated and cooled seats. I need those in my life :D

^^^This.

I went from a 10.2 @ 138 to a 9.8 @139 on my last car. Only change was better/lighter tires, a "race alignment" which cost $800 once i bought the right parts needed, and better burn out technique. Zero changes to power. 60' went from a 1.6 to a 1.4. That's why i plan to work on my track duty with my current 93 octane setup before moving to e85 and mo powa.

Congrats Dominant, I want to see 10's out of one of these 500whp motors!

Well said, I could have went FI had more power and done it cheaper.
