A good budget move for more low end grunt is a re-gear. Add some 4.09s along with 18+ manifold, LU47 injectors, E85 and long tubes. It'll have plenty of power and the steeper gears will absolutely pull harder throughout the rpm range. FI is great if you want a FAST car, but if you are just looking for some more grunt from the car, the gears are your best bet. FI is a rabbit hole you may or may not want to go down. Based on the original post, a taller gear and a couple extra HP would suit you well. The gears will have greater torque multiplication, the E85, long tubes and tune will give you more HP and a much more visceral sound and feel. All lending itself to a more engaged weekend cruiser.
I have thought about a gear swap. I have an auto so it’s got 3.15s now.

You'd absolutely feel the 4.09s. With the long 5th and 6th gear, you wouldn't have to worry about high rpms at cruising speed either. Those gears paired with a slightly looser converter and the above mentioned mods would make for a pretty badass NA street car. At least I hope. Thats my plans anyway.
