I have thought about a gear swap. I have an auto so it’s got 3.15s now.A good budget move for more low end grunt is a re-gear. Add some 4.09s along with 18+ manifold, LU47 injectors, E85 and long tubes. It'll have plenty of power and the steeper gears will absolutely pull harder throughout the rpm range. FI is great if you want a FAST car, but if you are just looking for some more grunt from the car, the gears are your best bet. FI is a rabbit hole you may or may not want to go down. Based on the original post, a taller gear and a couple extra HP would suit you well. The gears will have greater torque multiplication, the E85, long tubes and tune will give you more HP and a much more visceral sound and feel. All lending itself to a more engaged weekend cruiser.
