The whole thing sounds iffy to me, right now I got the car the way I want it with pedalmax installed the throttle response is awesome and virtually no tubro lag.

So I don't car about throttle improvements at all with the tune, I simply want more horsepower throughout the whole power band and no added noise, if this isn't possible then screw it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

i don't really have a good tool to data log with but from plug indications and from talking to Ford Performance, I'd stick with the stock plugs. Ford Performance said they tuned the car with the stock plugs and saw no benefit in running a colder plug. Now if you're using the car strictly for track duty where you are always pushing it, then I'm sure you're checking the plugs all the time and if they look like they're running too hot, then go with a colder plug. Honestly though, the tune isn't extreme. It's a 50 state legal tune so I'm sure it isn't aggressive.

From looking at the posts that Adam Brunson posted on FB, and his website, he has seen improvements from using a colder plug:
https://adamtuned.com/collections/f...spark-plugs-pre-gapped-to-tune-specs-set-of-4

What do ya'll think?

I don't buy it. Remember, he sells the plugs. I bought a set of those plugs. My experience was they got covered with carbon very quickly, indicating they were running too cold. Running the stock plugs that Ford Performance created this tune using, the plugs are wearing perfectly.

Edit: I would expect a different experience if I was running the Tune+ tune rather than the Ford Performance tune.

I am sure the tune will give more outright power. But I am willing to bet it will feel the same or less if you remove the pedalmax and drive around normally at part throttle with the tune. Flat out to the floor power would be I'm sure much better and it sure would be nice to have a bit better power after 5000 though. I have the pedalmax also and really does help for my driving style of seldomly going full throttle. Enough so that I am not going to tune for warranty sake. BELIEVE ME the pedalmax does not get any love and how dare you mention you use one but honestly for me it does enough to keep me from tuning. Half throttle with the pedalmax is probably more HP then half throttle with the tune. But sure, just push the pedle farther or just keep the pedalmax with the tune and it should be a bit moer powerful.

So, here's an odd question.

Has anyone noticed if the FP tune codes the active shutter system to stay open 100% of the time to compensate for (possibly) increased intake/engine temps due to the increased power?

I'd really like to put a GT grille in my EB, but everything I'm reading says they won't fit with the shutters in place. If I could remove them and not throw a CEL that I'd have to look at all the time, that'd be optimal. Other tuners have the ability to code this fault out, not so much with us...

They'll fit just fine.

Ford Performance had AEM make a Syntha Max dry filter that's re-usable as an upgrade replacement for the paper filter which you might want to look into. The flow rate isn't really much better than the paper filter, but it's reusable, so you can clean it every couple of months and keep the filter flowing near it's maximum by just washing it.

Since I have a ram air duct mod, my filter needs a cleaning every 3~6 months (winter is every 3 due to the massive amounts of salt dust), so I went with a dry element filter and outer wears over the top to keep larger debris from lodging in the mesh and piling up on top.

Setup works great, is easily cleanable and has 99%+ filtration efficiency which is as good as a stock paper filter. Yes it matters, wait til you hit 100k, poor filtration (even a couple of percent) will end up in compression loss from wear on the rings / sleeves far sooner. If your car is a daily driver, I'd recommend sticking with high filtration efficiency, not worth a couple extra pony's you won't even feel now for the loss of 20~30hp from compression loss at 100k.

TheLion Thanks for sharing that! I've had the tune installed for about 4 months now and also have a Ram Air setup now and really like that idea! Thanks for sharing the link, I'll be ordering that and the Outerwears Pre-Filter

i love those Syntha Max dry filters, much better than paper. I was able to get it from Tasca Ford / Steve Powell for $66 !!

I used two big zip ties to attach the shutter motor to the wiring harness that runs inside the bumper (the actual metal bumper not the cover). I just ensured the actuation arm was towards the radiator so it has unrestricted movement, no problems at all 3000 miles later.

I have a modified gt grill and shutters work fine. HOWEVER, since the tune I have noticed my shutters are sometimes now closed when parked. Did not prior to tune. Spoke FP thru chat and they said tune does not affect shutters at all.

I don't even have shutters. I have the 50 Year Appearance package and the grill is somehow different so it comes without them. So I believe it has nothing to do with the tune. I wonder if it's controlled in one of the other modules and you might be able to control it with FORScan? You should check the DIY.

U will get more power with the FP tune. The tune actually adds real power throughout the curve. Pedalmax adds fake power (throttle response). If u go WOT on both, the tune will win every time.

I think there is validity to both of these statements. I have had my tune on for about a week and roughly 150 miles. There is no doubt this tune really wakes the car up. Pulls much better all the way through and just an overall joy to drive now.
HOWEVER, I notice alot more pedal lag than I did prior. Not sure if it's just perceived with the increased power,or I am hyper sensitive to it now. This is currentlyy biggest (only) complaint with driving the car now. I contacted FR via chat and they said peddle response should actually improve dramatically with tune. I don't feel it yet. IF the pedalmax does what it says safely, it would seem to be a perfect addition.

If you've been using the Pedalmax and removed it when you installed the tune, then it is going to feel less responsive because your foot has been trained or conditioned to expect a certain amount of oomph per pedal travel. If you feel that it is too unresponsive, I'd say install the pedalmax. It only changes the relationship of pedal travel to the actual throttle body position. If you set pedalmax twice as responsive as stock, then at half throttle will be like full throttle. It's trickery, WOT is not any different.
