New 17' EB Mustang for under $20k

V8 man or not , that's a deal and a lot of car for the money.
Damn right.

The weird thing is that because the 5.0L is available, we scratch our heads while looking at the EB cars. If the GT wasn't out there, we'd see a roomy, sleek, RWD coupe, available with a manual transmission and a punchy turbo engine, stylish interior and a state of the art chassis for $20k...and promptly crap our jeans.

Guys, this is the same price as a Fiesta ST with almost 2x the horsepower and you won't get laughed at while driving it.

Agreed. Whenever people see an engine with less than 8 cylinders and turbocharging in a Japanese or European car there's mad respect, but put a small turbo engine in a Mustang or Camaro and some people lose their minds! :)

A new EB for $20K?

I wouldn't trade my GT, but I personally see a dirt cheap, fun, road course/strip car there.... :thumbsup:

If I wasnt dead set on having a V8 and a blower, I'd be all over an EB. Would be a perfect auto-x car with a few suspension and bolt on performance mods.

My .02. I bought the EB simply because I felt 310 HP and 320 lb ft of torque was sufficient for me. MY '97 Cobra "only" had 300hp and no one seemed to question it. Also, the EB weighs around 300lbs less then the GT and most of the weight is the lump (V8) in the front of the car. I also understand the EB sits about ½" lower then the GT. All of this adds up to better handling. If you want a long legged cruiser, then the EB is ideal. I do have the automatic and don't regret it. Put it in Sport mode and use the paddles. Tranny rev matches downshifts. I am averaging 31 mpg but have seem 37, with 90% of travel on Interstates, and rest in the twisty Black Hills.

I use Premium Mobil with no Ethanol. She is pushing three years old since I bought her in late 2014 and have had zero problems, no squeaks or rattles. I drive it all year and just took off my Continental Winter Contacts. Handled the South Dakota winters with no issues. The choice is an individual one. Choose wisely :)

How the hell are they finding prices that low for ecoboost mustangs ? In Denver an eco premium auto trans with prefomance package is $35,825 or just eco premium auto trans for $32,035. I only see a 1,900 rebate on that $32,035 bringing it down to $30,115. That's no-ware near the $20K Leckner ford is selling them for WTF.

bigger dealers/volume dealers can sell cars for way less than regular dealers due to the kickbacks and incentives they receive from Ford for selling X amount of cars each month. YMMV

At 67 years old I don't have the reflexes to match the GT. In the car the EB sounds nice to me. I guess I am a bit hearing impaired but I like the sound coming through the speakers . What I wish for is the sound of the 8 cylinders from outside the car. When I I hear a GT leave a gal station it sounds like an Aston Martin

300HP with room to grow - RWD - 6MT

Some comparables in the price range (and I looked at them all)
* FRS - Gutless and too small
* V6 Camaro - not tuneable
* WRX - More expensive
* GTI - More expensive, FWD
* MX5 - really??

The trouble is that power levels in factory trim has grown so much that people feel they need 500HP to start or it isn't worth it.

My car handles unbelievably well, doesn't have the nose dive/lift that the V8 does, spins the tires and gets the back end loose on command, and looks great doing it. Plus the turbo noise can't be beat.

It even has a warranty friendly tune that puts the power level up to a stock GT.

Love it.

Was that stretch of 37mpg all downhill, while in gear, not using the skinny pedal? Otherwise, how? Lol

Holy sh*t, that's a pretty impressive horsepower increase (40%) for the EB with just a tune.

Yeah, its really not that good. I'd be surprised if the Ford tune put down even 265 wheel, official crank numbers are 335hp/390tq. Still nice and peppy but its a heavy car too. Stock 5.0 puts down what, 360-375 depending on the conditions?

The big kicker though is the low end torque, the 2.3 has loads of that which makes it a fun red-light rocket in the 2500-3000rpm sweet spot. I'm fairly certain the ecoboost actually makes more torque than the stock V8 up to around 4500RPM when pro tuned. It actually becomes a problem having too much torque available too low in the RPM range and they have to move the whole curve to the right to extend the life of the motor.

I had a brz for about 2 years and then moved to a GT PP. there's no way in hell i'd take an EB over a BRZ. literally the only thing it has over the brz is power. Otherwise the BRZ is a superior sports car in every single way. With a header the tq dip is cured, and with e85 or flex fuel it has about 250hp, so it's not slow with it's light weight. IDK. if all you want is to put your foot down and feel tq the EB is "better", but if you're interested in a sports car it's inferior.

Oh, okay. I was like D*MN, I wish they had a tune like that for the GT's!! Mine stock was 378rwhp, but I've seen guys post higher. The guy I hang with sometimes who lives across town took me in his EB a few times. It seems pretty snappy and nimble. He has a Cobb tune and seems to like it.
