I suppose I should have elaborated on my statement, but yes what your saying about having a good relationship with a dealer is more a long the lines is what I meant, also could be looked at creating a bridge. I know logically on record it makes no difference if dealer or not, but this is not about that, this is about presentation. You get it installed at the dealer now you created a bridge it's solid start , they now know you and they know they installed it on your car, that means they are willing to work with you if issues arise in contrast to going to some who knows who guy that did the install to save a few bucks just might emotionally rub off the wrong way even though it shouldn't logically matter, but we do know with these types of scenarios it's kind of a judgment call. Remember people are emotional creatures first and intelligence is just a tool. There are 2 separate warranties. The warranty you have from Ford when you bought your car remains in tact. You would also have a warranty from Ford Performance for 3/36. If you had a problem with your car, Ford would first determine if they thought it was because of the tune. If it was, they'd still do the work but FP would be paying the dealer for the work instead of Ford proper.
Even after the 3/36, your warranty is still there, nobody takes that away. However that's where it will get real tricky. It is very easy to say most things could have been caused by the tune, if for no other reason than additional stress. This is where having a good relationship with your dealer is nice. They heavily influence whether or not the work is done under warranty but in the end, it's Ford's decision since they will be the one paying, not the dealer.
