It sounds like a defective chain that came apart and possibly caused valves to collide with your pistons, which locked it up.

So I've been searching high and low for a Ford Representative that can get me setup with a local rep. Usually Ford has some of them on all the forums, but they have disappeared. Even on the F150 forums they haven't been active in months.

I ended up reaching out on the Ford Service Facebook page and finally got someone to start a case. I've always had success with the local reps, they have the ability to make it right.

I suspect the engine is hydrolocked with coolant. I guess we will find out
If that is the case those rods will be bent and possible cracked sleeves but ford should replace the entire long block assy.

This is why i wont ever put a tune or any aftermarket add ons to my car until the warranty is fully gone. If you had put that tune on just for one day you would be out 15k just like that.
That isn't true. Tunes don't just make random things break. If it's a defective part then they have to cover it. Having a tune might make it a harder process during the tear down, etc but they can't make him cover it if it was a manufacturing defect unless they can prove his tune caused it, or whatever other part he put on it.

This is technically true BUT most of the time the dealer says that any aftermarket mods are responsible for the failure as the engine is being pushed beyond its intended factory set limits. It basically comes down to the roll of the dice.

I was in the same boat last summer when my whippled GT timing gear ate my motor. I was going to return it to stock then bring it to Ford and hold my hands up and claim ignorance. The thing that stopped me in the end was I had no plan for the current whipple cal that was flashed on the computer. Most Ford techs would use the trouble shoot tree and if the PCM showed a reflash code which it would if they looked for it then I would have been SOL. Also in my small town I would have looked like a smuck as most people now my car is boosted.

Good luck we just got our GT back had piston knock at 2,000 miles(#6&7) new short block put in . The problem was I babied it:doh::doh: So far (100 miles) doing good, no knocking no leaks or body damage from install. They dropped the engine and trans from the bottom.Going for a drive on I95 today to make sure it still drive good and no vibrations ..Keep us posted and Good Luck:thumbsup:

Sounds more like a clearance issue to me.

No ,I said that as a joke. They were very good and said sounded like wrist pin piston slap knock. After engine was pulled you could see where # 6 & 7 had some cylinder wall damage from to much clearance, piston slap. We were lucky to have the best mechanic he always dose a great job he`s been there 30 years.:hail: But we were surprised when it start knocking we have had Mustangs for 50 years:eyebulge: And this is the first one that has not been tuned or raced just a garage queen:headbonk:

I too have had Mustang's all my life and I can tell you that they don't make them with the same quality they used to.

They called me today to tell me they can't reinstall my catch can because it could void the warranty. They asked if I still had the original hose so they could attach it! They're going to order the OEM intake hose and give me my catch can to reinstall. They didn't give me an update

Ridiculous

True...but Mustangs weren't making 425 from the factory and capable of doubling the hp either.
