Emt1581, sounds like many of us had the same reservations. You sound like you have been pretty diligent in making the decision and have done your homework. I was nervous too when I bought mine, but I haven't regretted it one minute. I'm on my 6th Mustang, but my 2015 is the first one I have had in several years due to raising a family. I did tons of research before buying and drove a few different Mustangs to see what I wanted. Once I found what I was looking for, my wife pushed me to go ahead and pull the trigger so I did. Been loving it since! I bought a 2015 GT Premium with only 3200 miles last September. 18 months old and only 3200 miles, somebody didn't drive it! Go for it! You will be happy if you carefully choose the right one at the right price and don't look back. Best of luck

That's true enough, but as of this morning I got confirmation from a dealer for an OTD price, approval from the bank, just ironing out a few things and I'm aiming at next Saturday to bring her home.

Thing is, since this is by far the most I've spent on something aside from my home and day care (that bill actually came to $60k over 5 years!! :eyebulge: ). So yeah, I've been VERY hesitant.

But hopefully it'll all be over soon!

Just wanted to check back in... we pick up the car down in VA at 2:30pm tomorrow afternoon. The deal's all been done. It's just a matter of a test drive, payment/paperwork and then a 3-4hr drive back home.

Can't remember the last time I was this excited with this amount of butterflies in my stomach!!!

You have been reading on here for a while. Don't let them rush you through the test drive. You take the time and miles you need to make sure that car is good. Congratulations and I hope you have nice weather for the trip.

Right, the main thing I'll be looking for is a smooth clutch/shifter, no rattles, no odd sounds and looking it over VERY carefully for any paint chips, scratches, problems with the interior, etc.

Thanks

My biggest concern was the financing as well. I can afford the car, but did I really want to? This is the largest car payment I have ever had. I felt like the money could be better spend on something else.

The turning point was after my fiance and I test drove it, she looked at me and said "You've wanted this car for 2 years. You work too hard not to have nice things, and you sure as hell deserve it"

It was like all my nervousness just disappeared......

until they said they started running my credit bahahahaha

I have a lot more heartburn writing my HOA check than I ever do with the Mustang. And the Mustang check is about four times higher than the HOA check.

Nervous is a understatement ....

I know I have been bashed because I have been jumping back and forth on the whole 2017 or 2018 issue. I love the input some forum members have given me on the 2017 options and I appreciate it. Honestly I have been going thru a lot the pass 7 years and lost my father last year, my mother is not doing well either, plus the stress of putting two young adults thru college - Well my purchase of my 2017 Ford Mustang is a way of going back to the things that could help bring a smile back on this face - at least for a few moments in my life.

Mustangs here in Australia are around 65000 aud or 49000 usd. Hand was shaking when I signed to put my order down, lol.

Very similar to my experience and my main concern, a whopper of a car payment compared to what I had previously spent on cars in the past. My old car was 2006 Cobalt SS/SC, purchased new, factory Stage 2 kit, 97K, accident free and ran perfectly. I'll say one thing for the Cobalt, I never had any issues with it, just regular maint. It was fun to drive, had a little pep, decent mileage(30+ MPG hwy) and was dependable. I didn't need a new car but after driving the same one for 11 years I sure wanted one. I kept noticing the new GT's and Dodges on the road and boy did they look and sound good. Started researching, caught the fever and began test driving cars by myself on weekends while my wife was at work. Didn't let on to her what I had in mind.

She was on board with me getting a new car.... until I told her I wanted a Mustang. She questioned my sanity and suggested more "age appropriate" models. I promised her I would not buy a car unless I had her blessing and asked her to please just take a test drive with me. She agreed but definitely was not happy with my choice. I was stressing all the way to dealership, tried everything I could think of to win her over but she was having none of it. She kept repeating she couldn't believe I was considering this car....it was a kids car, not practical..married guys probably know the drill. My hopes were fading away.

Luckily my salesman was an older, experienced gent, easy going, no hard sell tactics. He quickly picked up on my wife's demeanor, he been down that road before. To his credit he deftly defused the situation with a little humor, got her smiling and laughing and then handed me the keys. After the test drive she said she kind of liked the car and if I really wanted it to go ahead and get it. Wasn't expecting that, I'll tell ya it felt like a ton of bricks had been lifted off me. I've never had much good to say about car salesman but that guy greasing the skids when he did saved the day.
