2017 or 2018 Stang - Decisions, Decisions

The 2018 updates are sounding pretty good to me, I would hold out for a 2018.

I'm planning on getting an A10 GT Premium this fall, mag ride and all the goodies, can't wait.

Direct Injection / Port Injection

Found an interesting article by Hot Rod Magazine regarding direct injection.

I think that new 10 speed is going to be a real winner if you're looking for an auto. We'll have to wait and see if Ford went with the MT-82 again because it sounds like it is either a heavily revised MT-82 or a whole new transmission. It's going to have completely different gearing and a dual mass flywheel. Even so, I do think Ford would have mentioned if they were using a whole new transmission. One can dream right?

Never liked the new design. The 18MY didn't help in the looks dept. for me either. Plus I don't want to be the one testing out the new drive train for Ford as they figure out the bugs.

I gave up on Ford and bought a nice used C6 Corvette instead. Glad I did. My 2014 v6 mustang got kicked out of the garage and is now my beater car.

18MY, 10Spd, GT premium for me. Not sure about PP or mag ride, probably will never race it. Maybe a track day or two. PP is definitely an option though since I like the Brembro's. I would love to have all the goodies but in the end i just want a fast car that looks good. I already spend too much dirt biking and race those.

If you looked more you would see I've been a member here for almost a year. Only because I have been looking for news on the 2018 refresh. That's how long I've been waiting and giving Ford the chance to sell me a new car.

I don't need to settle for a Mustang just because I can afford it. I own two mustangs right now. My 2014 v6 coupe and my Wife's 2014 vert. I'm not as new to this as you try to imply. I learn more lurking then writing useless posts about other people.

Maybe useless to you. I'm frustrated with Ford for catering to the Euro style. My Corvette might look cheap on the inside to you but I can't get over the ugly catfish/ Fusion look of the new mustangs. I wanted badly to like the 2018 but it went from a catfish look to an angry catfish look.

I'd rather have a C6 for half the price then an ugly Mustang for double.

BTW- Will the 2018 have the vibration problem fixed? If not enjoy your new car

What are the odds that they found a few lbs to shave?

Will the higher compression net more power and better fuel economy? It should...

How high will it rev?

Will it be appreciably quicker than the '15-'17?

I know exactly what the 10 speed is. Did you drive it ? Specifically Mustang one ? Why the hell do you think you need 10 speed transmission with two top gears being for fuel economy only I have no clue. Or why would M2 need one...

BMW's 7-spd double-clutch auto is no better than the a10. You sound like you are complaining about truck gearing, & don't know the a10 can be configured..?

Yep...can't wait to find out what the specs are for MPG also & if there is any weight savings. Plus want to know what the packages/goodies are and how they are split up. And when the it's going to production/delivery.

Please, tell me - how do you know what a10 is like ? Have you driven it in a _Mustang_ ? If not, you sound like a fanboy over upcoming car you're about to buy. I get, you're excited and yes, it might be good. But remember - it's a Ford. Too many unknowns here with the 2018 model -

• port and direct fuel injection
• high pressure fuel system
• Totally new engine only carry over is the crank
• 10-speed optional automatic transmission

Oh and a new 12-inch all-digital instrument cluster
Add to that the cost of maintenance if any thing breaks down after the warranty runs out !

Yes a lot to get excited about but a lot to worry about if your dropping 40k on a new car.
