Considering the title of the thread I wouldn't think people would be lurking here just to give other people shit. Everyone is entitled to an opinion however that doesn't make my opinion wrong. I think perfectly balanced track cars are awesome. That doesn't mean I'm going to build one though.I understand people really don't like FI on this forum concerning road courses, but the power can make up for the added weight and cooling can be addressed. Shoot, less than half the cars in the top 30 of C&D's Lightning Lap list are NA.
Agree, I've seen 800+hp Nissan GTR's run a full 30min session at COTA without puking their fluid or boiling the oil, so we need to just cough up and buy the necessary parts to keep everything cool. The biggest issue is keeping it cool. Extra HP is fun.
This^ big reason I turboed the miatas and ran the piss out of them. Its a freakin art keeping them cool but totally worth itCome at me bro!
Lol- totally just joking.
If you go fast long enough you might get bored. One day, you might find that unless you started driving at age 7 in karts you might never be the fastest out there. Sooo sometimes, and just here me out; sometimes the extra hoonage on tap with FI is just that much fun.
... so we gonna have a "light hearted" FI vs NA stang grudge match at COTA?
Harris Hill?
Or maybe safer, just lap times at Dollahites East Austin track?
... theres also Big Bend open road race but that might favor FI too much.
$20 says no matter the lap times, everyone would love to hoon a Whippled GT around turn 1 at COTA full oppo with tires smoking...
$100 says theyd luv to do that while passing an old guy in a Z07 on the outside.
For me, it's because it still demands anticipation further in advance for going from maintenance throttle even at 3500 rpm to wide open power with full boost. Too non-linear, and for me that just isn't much fun.On the track, the turbo is always making good power because you are always above 3-3.5k RPM's. You are never on the SC's optimal power band on the track.
So why not turbo, if you are interested in DE's?
