NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

I was able to get my hands on a 2017 sync 3 module which already had the update 2.0 software. There is nothing special to carplay.... Just need the right USB hub for it to work which is the "hardware" upgrade mentioned for the 2016 models.

does your front USB port work?

My Sync 3 does not want to update. It just says "Updating System Software..."
Then after about 4 minutes it says
“Invalid or Unsigned
File – Your package
may have corrupted,
the package signature
may have failed or the
signature may have
been revoked.”*

I have tried multiple master resets and also a full battery disconnect several times. What do you guys think is going on?

Did you format your USB drive as FAT32?
NTFS will not work.

I just purchased part GJ7Z-19A387-B. I really hope there isn't any wire soldering involved. I'm updating my software tonight hopefully. If anyone has done this to their 2016 and has carplay working. some pictures or videos on how to remove the old usb hub and install the new would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

No front USB is only for charging now.

There is no soldering involved.

The late-build 2016s have had success getting carplay to work with the GJ7Z parts, but those cars shipped with v2.0

To date, nobody has posted about a successful v1.0 -> v2.2 carplay event.

I just ordered the module GR3Z-19A387-B, which is the 2017 Mustang module, I ordered it from Autonation Ford, its not in stock, so hopefully it doesnt take forever to get........

I believe when you use that dual usb port, there is soldering involved if you want both of those ports to work, atleast from what I gather, thats why I just ordered the correct part for the 2017 Mustangs that you provided earlier in this thread :cheers:

google maps does not work with carplay. Apple maps is all that you'll be able to use.

Again, I don't know if that part will actually work. I have one on order myself along with a single port part identified for the Focus. So, here's hoping... :cheers:

I mean, does AA still work with the front port after the dual-port hub was installed? Is it possible that all three ports work, but CP must be routed though the MFI port? This one is tough to test because AA folks aren't getting the chip, and CP folks don't have AA.
