NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

I thought the only thing you need to order is one of the G37Z-19A387 or GR3Z-19A387-B or GJ7Z-19A387. I didnt think you needed to order any other parts?
I understand that it will be a dual port and the usb under the stereo wont work.


Can someone clarify which one I can order and get in the next couple days as I need to help get my buddies 2016 sync 3 working. I have a 2015 w sync 2 unfortunately.

To my knowledge nobody has got there Mustang hooked up to Apple CarPlay.
I'd like to know if anyone does and what part they used for the USB Hub
And/or what part(s) do they have coming :shrug:

Just did the Update...was very simple and easy. Took a couple minutes for the maps to come back but other then that sweeet ass update

mine did something odd today that it has never done before. I was listening to music off my iphone via USB and it kept playing but the screen locked I could not click anything. I turned off the car and opened the doors but the screen stayed the same with my music on it but the audio turned off. It stayed there for about 10 minutes after I shut off the car and then eventually tuned off and when I cranked the car again it was fine.

My 2015 EcoBoost did that last winter. I just had to disconnect the battery though because mine wouldn't unfreeze. I was told it's just because Ford went cheap on the Mustang wiring and that this happens once or twice to lots of Mustang owners.

My Sync 3 does not want to update. It just says "Updating System Software..."
Then after about 4 minutes it says
“Invalid or Unsigned
File – Your package
may have corrupted,
the package signature
may have failed or the
signature may have
been revoked.”*

I have tried multiple master resets and also a full battery disconnect several times. What do you guys think is going on?

Did you grab the correct version nav vs non-nav?

I was able to get my hands on a 2017 sync 3 module which already had the update 2.0 software. There is nothing special to carplay.... Just need the right USB hub for it to work which is the "hardware" upgrade mentioned for the 2016 models.
