We don't run a pedal switch.
We use a HOBBS switch off boost. (ground trigger)
Just to clear that confusion up.
I don't anymore , I removed the BAP and Sai Li came over and installed his twin pump , return fuel system for my E85 tune coming on Friday ... :headbang: Shooting for 700HP on your little HO kit :D

My JMS bap is exhibiting the following and I wonder if it is normal... I emailed JMS and they said to check the connections, but it's a simple hookup, lol and I soldered everything.

When I turn the ignition on, the green light comes on and I measure ~12-14v on the output wire. When I ground the grey wire, the voltage rises to ~18v and the green light blinks slowly. Great, seems to be working ok. I pressure tested the hobbs switch and it does work also.

BUT... When I start the car, the light on the JMS unit then flickers really fast and when I ground the grey wire with the car running, the voltage going to the pump doesn't increase like it does when the car is not running. The input and output seem to stay the same.

Although... when I run the car, WOT a/f at 7k stays at ~12/1

Anybody else experience the jms light flickering real fast? Am I measuring the voltage correctly or not getting a correct reading because the pump is running?

1) I'll have to double-check this, but I am pretty sure Cat temp is calculated, so no reason to compare logs, since many factors can change that reading. (kinda like the dashboard boost readings, also calculated and vary widely)

2) Your car seems to have an issue going into power enrichment, I believe the another tuner here was working with you to resolve.

3) Sorry for the delay, I was out of town at PRI. So if you don't reach me within a few hours, just email the tuning department, since there are a good number of guys to handle that. :)....
Thanks. Yes been working with your techs and the tuning guys, they have been easy to contact and reply quickly, just wasn't expecting to be an odball problem kind of guy on this one, lol. Have the new tune for the cat temps, just have to get to testing it. Anxious to hear what your guys figure out on my idle thing.

Saw that the cat temp is a calculated value on another thread. Still kind of a scary high number to see, hoping the calculation was off by 20%. That and that the new tune doesn't just change the math, lol.

Need some more info on if u have the plug @play jms and how its hooked up,but if your seeing 12.1afr on a wot pull,i would not do anymore to u get it straighten out.

Since the calculated boost number can be off by well more than that percentage, I wouldn't be that worried. I again still need to confirm on how it's calculating it, but it's not like your car has an EGT sensor. ;)

But just letting you know there are plenty of 8 second coyotes that run well into the 12.5-13.0 range under extreme boost. AFR relates to spark timing, and cam timing values... sooooooo, just throwing a number out there and saying "thats lean"... or "thats rich" doesn't give the whole story.

Not to mention, you have to account for sensor error. ;)

But just letting you know there are plenty of 8 second coyotes that run well into the 12.5-13.0 range under extreme boost. AFR relates to spark timing, and cam timing values... sooooooo, just throwing a number out there and saying "thats lean"... or "thats rich" doesn't give the whole story.

Not to mention, you have to account for sensor error. ;)
Yeah a/f is fine. It actually hovers 11.7-12 on wot. I'm not concerned with that. And jms does increase to ~18 volts when I test it without the car running so I know the unit works. I'm new to all this, so I was just concerned that I couldn't measure the increase with the engine running. I'm going to add fuel/boost gauge soon.

(which is the same as what others are reporting)
I don't know where you are getting 13.1????

(Other than I said, you would be surprised at how many cars at the track are actually 12.5-13.0 even with crazy amounts of boost. Again many factors play into this... such as compression, boost, fuel, fuel brand, whats in the fuel, etc.)


maybe thats why your having so many issues with your tunes.
There have only been three people with an issue that I know about.
HPtuners and nGauge guys have been looking to resolve it, but we are working with those people directly one on one.

However, as you can see by others posts...
The vast majority of them run great, and HAUL the mail. :)


aint no way in hell i have seen 12.5 to 13.0afr on any forced induction car at wot.

There are many factors that go into proper AFR under WOT for F/I.
I urge you to read up on some engineering white papers, and emissions documents.
(yes some people throw loads of fuel at some to be "ultra safe" which can cause as many issues long term as it "cures")



Also by the way widebands 02's are one of most accurate for checking a/f ratios,we are not talking about tailpipe sniffers.
When developing tunes, we use a LAB GRADE wideband...
Same unit used when doing high dollar testing, before getting the 5 gas unit out before CARB testing.
These units get calibrated literally every single time the car is placed on the engine or chassis dyno.

Why stop there, when there are GT500's on Q16 running 13.2 ;)
Some tuners want them rolling coal down the track, others want nice clean plugs. It's all about watching those EGT's, and controlling knock.

Q16 thats funnny,my bad thought op was running 93.Oh and please tell me how to log egt temps being the coyote does not come with that sensor,or do u guys send them out with your kit now.

Hence why I said our tunes are set up to run 11.8-12.1 [MENTION=6797]WOT[/MENTION]

We use EGT's in testing. Obviously, the car doesn't have them.

Everything else I spoke about is talking about generalities, with all sorts of variables. All I said was "AFR isn't some magic number"....each car, platform, boost level, fuel type, and fuel make up dictate a variable in this number. We set our tunes up for what we feel is powerful, yet safe enough for fuel quality across the US.
