I can't tell you how many guys at the track have their day cut short because of having these crazy turbo kits or superchargers.

My advice is to stay na as long as you can, and focus on skill, suspension, brakes etc.

I guarantee you that with proper tires and suspension you are not out driving your power level yet.
This.

The stock cars can have heat issues (rear diff/engine, etc) let alone with FI. I know I don't want to be limited on when and how long I'm on track. The track rats are NA, with cooling mods.

*Fuse 62 is the correct fuse. I think you are thinking "5" because that is the amp rating.

I definitely agree, I run without fuse 62 24/7 and I love it. Simplest way to describe it is the car does what I tell it to.
Can you explain? what does fuse 62 control?

The more I think about it the more Im thinking procharger. Heck I am even starting to think to abandon the idea and do some weight saving and less rotational mass. One of my fears the more I try to imagine a supercharger on the car, is that nose diving is going to get much worse. Even going from the big turbo eco to the NA GT with similar supspension setups its noticeable.
You're almost there! COMMIT!!!! :clap2:

Exactly.

You don't want to do this.

If you take out fuse 62, traction control and AdvanceTrac are disabled. It is the only way to full defeat all the safety features.
So when I press the button for 6 seconds and it says "advance trac disabled" is traction control still active? I've never removed the fuse, but want to try.

As far as the OP's question: For me, reliability is a huge part of me having fun at a trackday, whatever car I may be driving. There is a much greater chance of having problems with any aftermarket FI setup. The problem with the mustang is it's so easy/cheap to get good power, but sometimes reliability suffers, and you aren't having fun anymore if you are constantly fixing things.

I vote for keeping it N/A. FI cost is what, about $5-7K? Keep the motor stock (or bolt-ons) and spend $5K on lightweight wheels/tires, suspension, brakes, weight reduction, reliability/maintenance.

This is coming from a guy who really loves to hear a supercharger whine or a turbo BOV.

OK thanks. So it doesn't impact abs or anything else? I can't say I've felt intervention we. I've done the long hold for a disable though. Something to try out, thanks.

People say when you hold the button down and it turns off AdvanceTrac that TC is disabled as well, but LC is still engaged and LC is only engaged when TC is on. Personally, I just took out the fuse so I didn't have to worry anymore.

I don't believe it does, however I can't say definitely.. A full on panic stop with the Brembos and extra-meaty R-compound front tires has a lot of stopping power before locking up.

If you put Sparco or Bride or some other racing seats in your airbags won't work... which is why the Recaro seats (in the aftermarket) are so expensive... they have the bags and electronics.

It is VERY difficult to cool the intake charge of centrifugal and especially roots/twin screw superchargers. Living in Texas, this challenge is even more difficult.

I'd go with the Ford Performance Power Pack 3. It will bump you 435hp to 472hp. Take out your cats, add long tube headers, and you'll be pushing GT350 power levels. That's a lot of power for a track car, and likely more than you'll have with a supercharger after it heat soaks in 2-3 laps.

Looks like we'll be doing a low boost Whipple setup for the HPDE and a pulley swap for higher boost(big power) for the drag events. Building a car that can be a all around vehicle not an all out drag car nor a full blown track car somewhere in the middle. Should be interesting.

Remove rear quarter glass and rear window.
Cut out trunk spare well.
Single rear mount turbo with rear air to air and separate water jacket cooling loop.
Done.

Wilson, PLimmer, who else?... start a list, maybe its time for a visit with Travis and convince him Boost Works needs to do a rear mount turbo for track day guys.
I run a Whipple and S550 does not need any more weight up front...
Whos got a link to the S550 being tracked by the guy and his father with a rear mount?.. forgot the name...

With you all the way, I figure we need 650hp to 700hp to be able to spank a Porsche GT3 RS, a lil boost would be the easiest way to get there.......

I'll probably get something from Boost Works with water cooled turbo's and see what happens next.

I've been drag racing my car a lot but I haven't touched suspension yet. I'm supercharged with a large intercooler and considering making the car corner instead of go in a straight line.

Thats not a track car thats a strip car. This thread is for supercharged track cars. ie cars that go around a track not down a strip

It goes around a track just fine. I auto X it as well as drag race it. The suspension is stock still. I'm highly considering making it a carver and not a dedicated straight line car.

A big-power engine in a stock-suspended and slightly more front-heavy car is still a "point and shoot" kind of car.

Not a fan of FI in a track environment. Won't be any faster through the technical sections or better under braking, and if I'm slow enough about rolling into the throttle on corner exit that's for me to improve on rather than crutch with more available power.
