Having it mounted horizontally like that, I guess you are just using it for Nav?

Mine just sits in the bottom by the shaker logo above shifter.

However, I am in minority in having a 2017 with Carplay, so I don't actually need to use my phone at all. Hope you 2016's get it soon!

I also mounted mine there (right in front of that vent) using the Scosche magic mount so that the GPS would be easier to see without taking my eyes off the road.

Since I drive in the city in Chicago I pretty much put my phone away in the center console. The driving here is pretty horrible and you can't take focus away for a split second with all the cabs/bikers/pedestrians that like to jump out at any second. I really can't wait to move to a less populated area.

Scosche magnetic mount, plugs into cigarette lighter and keeps phone just off to the right side while allowing a charge if needed (has USB port).

Yep, I'm doing the same thing. I've got a gooseneck like that with a cradle that holds the phone and a nice, short 6" USB cable.

I've got Sync 3, no nav. Waze is an absolute necessity, I spend my days dodging traffic in Los Angeles.

If they would hurry up and drop the Android Auto update, and Waze would hurry up with their Android Auto compatibility I could lose the phone mount altogether. But, well, hurry up and wait.

I keep mine here.

Don't really care to keep anything in my pockets while sitting in the car. It took a while getting used to the fob as it was.
