I'm at a loss as to why anyone would need a phone mount when you have Nav and bluetooth.
Waze and OBDII monitoring (gauges).

My firehouse shift filling app (cant be missing OT for new parts), Waze, OBD monitoring, Roush active exhaust app and others.

Some people can throw their phone in the console and thats great but many of us rely on apps for different things and need our phones visible.

Hence the "Best phone mounting location" thread

Love the guys who come and post about not needing their phone visible in a thread for people who want their phone visible

Why the sarcasm? I had a legit question and was enlightened by some polite folks. No need to be that internet guy.

Options on navigation... I run waze, google maps, Here maps, and stock apple nav... depending on the situation. My stock nav is terrible.

I also run my music through the phone via bt....

Even answering calls is better... no fumbling trying to see who is calling.

Nice to have the phone right there, less distracting, IMO. And I don't toy with my phone while driving... it is nice to have a spot for it.

Also, I always take my phone out of my pocket while I am in my car. If I put it on the passenger seat, I often will forget it is there (black phone, black seat), so the mount helps me to remember to take it with me. And for us '15 and '16 owners without apple car play, it helps to browse the music library.

Do you guys have cases on your phones that are using the magnetic mount? Ive got a case that holds my DL and CC and just wondered how well it would hold a iphone 6 plus.

On one phone I have the metal plate on the inside of the battery cover. You can't see it.

On my iphone, I have the metal plate on the outside of a clear case. I have two iphones so putting on the case made sense... if I switch phones, I simply move the case to the phone I'm using. I don't care how it looks, works great. My case is plastic... no issues with the plate holding on...

You're right this was in no way aimed at you. I was replying to you in the first part of my reply. The bottom was just a couple blanket statements to that kind of person who enters a thread they have no intent on helping just to give a useless opinion.

I will say people in general are way too sensitive though ;)

Not bad OP. The sync does a decent job of all the music/phone functions but I like the mount idea for track days(harry's lap timer). Hopefully it'll stay in place.

Does anyone here have experience with that?

The only bummer thing is that I have a galaxy and a magnet wouldn't work. I'm gonna keep an eye on this though. Maybe something will come up in the future.

I have an iPhone 6+ also. I started with the metal plate on the inside of the case. It would hold if you centered it correctly on the magnet but if you hit a big bump, it'd fall off. I mounted it on the outside of the case and have never had a problem with it, it holds very well.

I have Samsung 7 plus, have the plate on the back of the phone, case would get in the way, and if your phone drops out the case, then could cost a lot of wonga, have it mounted in the vent. :frusty:

i use the logitech magnetic mount. It's VERY strong. even over the biggest bumps it's held on like a rock. Plus the mount is super small. I mainly use mine for GPS since stock nav is god awful in every car i've ever had. The phone does a much better job.

I'm a musician and NAV can't find many of the Clubs I perform at and ...
I went on a road trip with Mrs. Rock& Roll recently and the NAV routed us for a 4 hour 15 minute trip and my iPhone routed the same destination at 3hours and 30 minutes. While we where there NAV couldn't find half the places we wanted to visit. When NAV works it's really good but it's really hit and miss. A big waiste of $900 IMO.

Ford needs to give us 2016 owners Apple Car Play. This would fix the NAV problem that I paid $900 for. The dealer said Apple CarPlay was already in my car but it isn't. This is my only gripe with my car, Ford and the dealership. I would have bought a 2017 had I known all this. :headbonk:

Went on a trip over the weekend and the NAV couldn't find the destination and/or it would have got my there 30 minutes longer so I had to use my iPhone GPS Maps app.

Thanks. I ordered that and should get it tomorrow.

I like the other mount on this page also but I only need it when I'm going somewhere and the NAV can't do it so I'm not interested in a semi permanent mount thingy but, it looks pretty cool.
I have a similar one in my wife's car. It works fine, but it it blocks the cold air vent and is kind of annoying at times.
For the Mustang I got a stick-on with the magnet. It's been a winner so far.
