Since there's been a lot of exhaust talk recently, I thought would share my experiences with the Gibson catback. I chose the stainless model.

First off, I think this exhaust looks amazing. I am very happy with the overall fitment and quality of this system, except for the clamps weren't good. The 4.5" tips look awesome and really fills out the back of the car. Completes the package if you will. No problem aligning the mufflers.

The sound is amazing. It has a deep, muscle car tone and gets mean at high RPMs. It has raspy tone at WOT that is very addictive. But it although the rasp is there it's smooth and clean sounding. A very good exhaust note to my ears. It's like V8 music - makes me feel good every time. Another few things: at cruising speed and light throttle, it's easygoing and not too loud/abnoxious, but when you get on it, it's mean again. When you let off the throttle it's got a great V8 burble and sounds so cool when the engine speed dies down.

I have put almost 1,000 miles on it now and I think it has broken in. I am not experiencing any drone, so I don't know what some owners are talking about. In 6th and 50-60mph there is a slight vibration but it's not bad AT all. Not what I would call drone. This is me personally- you may experience different results and maybe someone's definition of drone is different then mine. But this exhaust does not bug me in the least. There was drone IMO when I first installed it, but it has smoothed out considerably over time and I don't experience any drone now.

Car feels happier to rev into high RPMs and this is even before when I still had the stock airbox. So I think it is making a little more hp on top, but I can't prove that and don't really care.

IMO this is how the car should've sounded from the factory. I can actually hear this V8 come alive. So glad I got rid of the resonator too in favor of the X pipe. Every burble I can hear the V8 working. Stock is way too tame IMO, it's sacrilegious almost to a Mustang no offense.

If I had to do it again this would've been my first mod. I'd buy this system again if it were damaged. I'm sure there is better systems out there but I love this exhaust!!! Love. And I'm a little cheap. I didn't want to spend $1500 for a catback exhaust. For me I was between MBRP street and this - I'm very glad I went with this one. From the videos I've heard, I like the Gibson better and now after driving it everyday and hearing it, I'm not disappointed.

Lot of great exhaust options out there for this car, it's awesome. Just wanted to share mine.

I've been seriously considering this one as I've heard it in person and driven a 2016 GT manual with 3.31s and this exhaust. I does sound awesome. My concern is the drone. The car I drove had it and I see others complaining. I'm confident it's the rpm range at cruise which would change depending on the trans and rear.

Regardless, thanks for the review. Enjoy

My car is a 3.15 which is probably worse for drone on the highway. I've heard a lot of the people complaining about the drone. Seen a lot of them for sale in the classifieds section. Well either my drone is gone or just don't hear it. If it is there, 1800-2100 RPM is where you'll hear it. I actually like to drive in a lower gear most of the time since I bought it. That's why most of the time on the highway I drive in 5th. I rarely ever use 6th gear unless I'm going 75+ and cruising.

Anyway the point of my review is that I'm happy with it. So if it is there, it's not enough to bother me in the slightest. And it does sound amazing. I drive with the windows down as much as I can now just to hear it.

I have the same exhaust and absolutely love the sound. I have somewhat of a drone at certain cruise speeds but it doesn't bother me at all. The best is during a cold start. Once it warms up idle is fairly quiet. Actually I wouldn't mind if warm idle was louder but when you step on it the music starts.

I have the black tipped version. I agree that the tips fill the area very nicely. I liked the sound very much prior to headers. It's smooth as you said and raspy but not obnoxious. After headers it is obnoxious! Way to raspy. I added dynomax race bullets which toned it down quite a bit. It is back to being smooth and quite a bit quieter. From inside the car it sounds great. I recently took a video of the exhaust though and it sounded like shit. Very tin canny. The material through out the system is fairly thin, especially in the mufflers.

I have decided to remove the gibson mufflers and replace them with dynomax mini bullets. So my system will consist of Kooks catted headers, mid mounted bullets, and mini bullets at the tips. Should be completed next week some time.

Full exhaust here and drone was crazy bad with Gibson exhaust, got dynomax race bullets installed which act like a resonator at low rpm so cruising its a little drone but manageable but still load at WOT which is what I was going for.

True there is some drone after a cold start. And maybe a little bit of drone at certain cruise speeds, a little.

But honestly if you're getting a race exhaust, you've got to expect that. For me there's no point of getting an aftermarket exhaust and then welding the resonator back. I wanted to get rid of the resonator for better flow and better sound. If I didn't care about that I would have kept the stock exhaust.

This is one of the best mods I have done. i hear it and feel it every time I drive the car. Makes the experience so much more enjoyable. I don't even care if it gave me more power. Love the X pipe, would never get rid of it.

I don't want headers so I'm good. I have heard this exhaust with headers and OMG. Stupid loud. It's insane.

Just put mine on and it's damn loud inside the car. I'll give it a few days. I don't mind the loud exhaust, but inside the car is annoying as hell.
