2016 vs 2017 differences worth it?

I know the 2017 adds trans and differential coolers and track pack as base option, but would a 2016 for a few grand cheaper with the technology pack be worth it, or should I just pay the extra couple grand for a 2017? The 16 I'm looking at says technology pack, but I don't see any mention of magneride, was that not included in the 16's tech pack? Thanks.

Oh something I should have added, I know the coolers will be important for some, but for me this is a car I will daily driving. While sure I would love to track it some time, it's not a dedicated track car, so if the coolers aren't a necessity, then I'm fine without them.

If you are not intending to track, the oil coolers are really not needed. I assume you are talking about the GT350 no R.

The tech spec's are posted elsewhere in this forum. Track those down and you will fully understand the difference between the two cars and the specifics like magna ride.

Great advice. I'd like to echo that.

From my own research, sounds like the coolers are not needed. So it depends on your budget.

If you are ok spending a few bucks more, better to not need it (coolers) and have it, than not have it, and need it.

DO NOT BUY a 2016 Base or Tech model.

This car runs hot even on the road. Even if you never hit "limp mode" all the extra heat will most likely greatly shorten the life of the trans and diff.


I recommend anyone with a 2016 Base/Tech that plan on keeping it beyond the warranty period to get coolers to prolong the life of their drive train.

I try not to worry. It seems the current solutions aren't far off from what I would do in the future if my transmission failed. We'll see in a few years i guess.

Android Auto and Apple Car Play are native to 17's as is the Track Pack. The only way I would upgrade is if I tracked and had a 16 base or Tech pack

This car has been touted by the national media as an incredible track car... people are selling their M4's, Porches, etc. to buy this car because of that. Without the track pack or 2017 upgrades, you are limited the resale value of your car IMO even if you don't track the car yourself. I personally would not buy one without the track pack no matter what.

Now if you don't ever plan on tracking the car and don't necessarily care about resale down the road and the potential hit, then go for the non-track pack car... it's still an amazing car.

If you never track and get a good under msrp deal on the 2016 id go for it. Everything the 17 adds you pay for. Resale may take a hit so make sure you get a deal up front.

Well the 16 apparently sold yesterday, just heard back. So the search continues!

My next shot is a magnetic 17 without the convenience package, meaning base radio, that they want two grand extra, bringing it to the same price as one with the convenience pack. So if I can talk them out of the ADM then it will be 57k
