Difference in 2016 vs 2017 GT350?

I'm on Fence and about ready to start calling dealers to find the best deal on a gt350. With 17s being ordered and pricing looks the same, what are the differences? Are the 17 better than 16s?

I do plan to autocross if that matters

In 2016 there were the following three models:
- Base (no mag-ride, no tranny cooler, no differential cooler, has oil cooler)
- Tech (no tranny cooler, no differential cooler, has mag-ride and oil cooler, has leather recaros, navigation, etc.))
- Track (has all three coolers, has mag-ride)

For 2017 the Track is now the Base model. Base model was eliminated. To the Track you can separately add navigation with the electronics pack OR can add navigation and leather recaros with the convenience pack.

Note, the standard seats are cloth recaros which offer more side support than leather recaros. The cloth recaros would be better for autocross.

Tranny and differential cooler aren't needed for autocross. I have a 2016 Tech and have been to a few autocross events. I use my knees to help support my lower body through the tight turns.

Also they changed from the gt350 sill plate on the rocker and went to a ford performance version and I believe changed the logo on the strut bar. I'm personally not a fan of the new plate as it looks somewhat cheesy. It would be an easy fix though.

the 17s have soft rollovers on the doors and the speakers/stereo with the big screen are slightly different.

the 17s also have carplay out of the box.. I believe the 16s will get it, but it hasnt been released as an update yet.

If you happen to find a good deal that is out of state, ask them if they can do a courtesy delivery. I live in AZ and ordered from a dealer in GA and got a courtesy delivery to a dealer in my state for $250. Happy hunting.

Before buying my 17 GT350 I thought they all came with Recaros. My seats look like the GT Premium seats except with Alcantara seat inserts.

For what you plan to use the car for, a 2016 or 2017 will pretty much be on equal terms. You don't need to compromise on the features and presentation that attract you to a certain vehicle whether it is a 2016 or 2017 model if you run across a particular deal that looks attractive. The sport seats in the 2016 Tech Pack cars are plenty adequate for autocross use. I have yet to see my GT350 transmission temperature go beyond 135 degrees on a hot day during a autocross competition, that is not a concern. If you find the color combination that you like with the features that fit your needs, and the price is acceptable, go for it.
