Just got off the phone with my dealership and got the part# for the transmission they are sending to put in my car. It's the same part # Epiphany has on the transmission he ordered. FR3Z 7003-E. Now I just have to buy the rest of the cooler kit. So, good news after all.
That's great news! Congrats. You said earlier that your dealer ordered these parts because your transmission is no longer being made? Is that to assume that they are just silently phasing out the non pump transmissions? I was also thinking about this way down the line as to how long ford was going to make tech transmissions since we are so few spread out across the 16 and 17 years ie. Many years from now when wear and tear finally break our trans.

May want to check that again.

Mind you it was more than $4,000 and that was just over dealer cost from Tousley (and had no internal pump). Core charge additional. Today I got a message from Mike at Buyfordracing that he has the just released Ford Racing TR3160 transmissions (with coolant pump) in stock. Retail on these is $4,800.

$4800 USD will translate to roughly $6K cad, ouchhh, plus all additionnal cooling hardware, misc. and labor...

Went to my dealership yesterday and was offered $60K cad for my 800 mile car with tinted windows and clear bra.

They have a '16 TP car sitting in the showroom , it is the exact same car i have.

They're asking $75428 cad, but after a bit of negociating, i was able to get the price down to $70K cad.

Still trying to make sense of shelling out another $10k cad + taxes......will wifey
approve is another thing.

But if i ever go for it, she'll never notice the difference as both cars are the same....:)

She'll notice the $10k hit to the old bank-account.

That's about $7500 USD. I'd be all over it to put this in my rear view mirror.

Now, keep in mind that is a base to a TP upgrade. Wasn't the TP like $6500 USD above base to begin with?

On top of that, you can put all the tech stuff in a TP now. http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64569

She'd never notice the 2K missing out of the bank account....

True, you make excellent points.

I had a talk with my wife about the value of my car in Germany and she wouldn't let me sell it for a huge profit even if I could essiencially get a free 2017 out of the deal. :tsk:

Just get her something shiny to distract her, like a coach purse or a new pair of shoes. She'd go for it.

You can't even imagine how many presents this woman has returned. Hell, she even exchanged her wedding ring right after we got married. Something about it not matching the engagement ring. Jokes on her the rings were part of the same set.

I like to disassemble things.
Thanks Epiphany! Do you know if this trans would accept the cooler kit pending from FP? Do these use the fill and drain openings or do they have dedicated connections for the lines?
This should work with the FP kit designed to work with a TR3160 with a factory internal pump, yes. This transmission will have the stock fill/drain/ port plugs.

I read it as this is the GT350 Track package version of the transmission. so we would need all the other track trans cooling parts
This is correct. Hopefully the price on that hardware from FP is just as reasonable as the transmission is.

Thank you for the information. It is appreciated. $2,700 is a decent price for a non-warrantied transmission. Assuming we get $1,000 core for our existing transmission - out of pocket $1,700 is OK.

A price like that makes me feel like Ford is going out of their way to try to help tech pack owners, rather than trying to milk us for more money while dropping our warranty.
I just contacted Mike at Buyfordracing again and asked about any core charge. There is none. So $2,700 (shipped) nets you an even better transmission that cost over $4,000 just a few months ago. Very reasonable pricing.

Does anyone even know if they will accept a trans w/o pump for a core. If they are selling that trans for $2700 I tend to doubt they would be taking off another $1000 for the core. I may be wrong and I hope I am but I don't think so
FP doesn't need your core but I'm sure you'll find a regular GT owner that is looking to ditch an MT82 for it.

To be clear, the transmission I purchased was a Tech Pack transmission and had no internal pump. So if you/they felt that this one would have an internal pump - it doesn't.

$2700 shipped for the ford racing variant really isnt bad at all, you can easily sell the tech pack tranny for 2k+ to a GT owner with a blown MT82. I would go that route over an electric pump

Montreal Ponies- I would say you have a very good deal trading in a used base car for a new TP car for $7500. You get magenride and the full cooler setup all under warranty, not bad!

And a bunch of GT350 owners are thrashing their transmissions this weekend
Lmao. Run them like they should be ran. Can't imagine they will last very long at those temps anyway. Drive it like a Track car since it was advertised as one.

Dan is probably on the way to the dealer now. I would be. The wife will get over it :D

Edited to add: Does Canada have a similar deal to the US where if you trade in a car towards a new one you get a tax break?
