Thinking of going with Amsoil Signature Series 5w-50. Case of 12 shipped to my door for $108. Cheaper than the motorcraft... well online anyways.
Just ordered this to do my first oil change as well. Hopefully this and the filters get here before the weekend.

Here is a helpful video

Is the guy that did the DIY video a member here ? Guess he didn't read about
punching a hole in the filter to avoid making a mess. Oh well, thx anyways.

Here's hoping he had PPF installed on his car before his dog approval ?

After reading about all the poor dealer experiences (loose filters or oil messes), it was starting to create a bit of stress for me with regards to my upcoming 1st oil change.

So thanks to this thread, I decided to do the oil changes myself. I already do my own changes on my Raptor, so why not start doing the GT350 too. Just bought a set of Race Ramps and a bigger oil container and now look forward to doing the 1st change myself!!

Already bought the required Motorcraft filter, but will use Mobil 1 5w-50 instead of the motorcraft stuff.

Glad you found my DIY helpful. Why do you want to use Mobil 1? I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the engine oil specification for this engine. There are only 2 oils (that I know of) on the market that Ford Performance recommends (perhaps required is a better word) for this engine. Motorcraft makes a 5w50 to spec and so does Amsoil. All other oils (even other 5w50) do not meet the specs. You may have trouble using your warranty, after you have engine problems, if/when you need warranty service on your engine and it's discovered that you've used an oil that is not recommended for the engine.

Check the supplement for our car: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/F...350-Supplement-version-1_su_EN-US_07_2015.pdf

Use Motorcraft SAE 5W-50 full synthetic
or an equivalent SAE 5W-50 full synthetic
oil meeting Ford specification

I have always been a Mobil 1 fan and run it in all of my current and previous vehicles. It was OEM in both my Viper GTS and Z06, so I could only assume it's high quality.

However, I also saw that it did not meet the Motorcraft specs and I certainly don't want there to be any warranty related issues that could come down to the oil, so I ended up ordering a case of the Motorcraft 5w 50 synthetic instead.

Glad I could help. I use Mobil 1 in my other cars and past cars. Intended to use it with this one until seeing the info in the supplement.

Mobil 1 is used as factory fill on so many new high performance vehicle engines I can't see you having a problem...

I see that Ford requires a 7* approach angle for towing. Race ramps are 10+ degrees. Need a way to get under the car. Will Race Ramps work ?

Yes, but you need to buy their Race Ramp Xtender piece (6.8 degree incline)

Thank you ! I'd seen comments about them working, could not figure out how unless the most forward part being in the middle allowed the 10* to work. Makes sense now ! Thanks again.

What's interesting is if you look at Note 2 on page 45 of the exact same supplement manual it states:

"Your engine has been designed to use engine oil that meets Ford specification or an equivalent engine oil of the recommended viscosity grade that displays the API
Certification Mark for gasoline engines.
"

I've tried searching for the contents of the WSS-M2C931-B spec but can not find anything that describes what is defined by this specification. I suspect their spec is a collection of other industry specs (i.e. API etc).

Also, Redline oil makes a 5w-50 that claims to meet the Ford "C" spec.

Does an oil meeting the "C" spec exceed the requirements of the "B" spec? I'm not familiar...
