Bought a Go Pro tonight and for the life of me, I cant figure out how to mount the suction cup to the inside of the windshield to video the road..the angle are all messed up...
For those of you who have been to track attack..you have to mount it inside on the window right?
How are you mounting it...If you mount it facing upside down, can you change the footage to be right side up?
Thanks in advance..

Oh yeah, if you mount it outside..anyone have a problem doing that on the road? Pulling paint, leaving a mark.....

You will want to mount it upside down. You can change the settings in the GoPro so it knows that it is upside down(and records correctly). Do it before you record the footage it's much easier than having to put it in editing software to flip it later.

GoPro studio will also allow you you flip it but it would be better to set in the camera settings

Hey Tony, when you go out to TrackAttack, you will want to figure a way to mount the GoPro so that you can blow cool air on it. GoPros are notorious for overheating and then shutting off. When we were out there two weeks ago, it was quite hot and one of the guys had a lot of trouble with his.

Keep in mind if you do the second day, the Boss 302s are totally stripped down with no A/C so, you might not get to record everything you want.

You'll want extra batteries and a charger too. You should have some time to charge batteries during lunch.

You'll have a great time at TrackAttack with or without the GoPro!

The GoPro "Skeleton Housing" or "The Frame" are good ways to let ambient air get to the camera itself. The included case great for waterproofing (I had mine to 40ft on a five just a few days ago), but in it does shield the camera from needed cooling when waterproofing is unnecessary.

If you don't need lens and drop protection, The Frame is the way to go in my opinion.

I mounted mine just to the right of the rearview mirror with the standard long pivot arm. It was upside down, but I just rotated it the correct way when I downloaded it on my computer. If I can figure out how to post videos here, I'll post my AutoX run so you can see the angle.

Isn't mounting a go pro in your Shelby kind of like providing testimony which will tend to incriminate one's self?

Depends what you are doing. OP is going to the track attack event so no.

When using a suction cup to mount my GoPro, I only mount it on glass (inside or outside the car). Wipe the glass clean first so it holds tight. I don't worry about messing up any paint.

Have you ever had any issue with the go pro falling off the suction mount on the outside?

Not yet! I use the glass as its a good clean surface and generally flat. Painted areas tend to have some curves and with orange peel, never completely smooth to get a sure grip.
The tracks I run at (TWS and COTA) are very fast. So far so good.

Well that's good it has not fallen off lol

I went out and got a suction cup for my GoPro last week and tried it out Friday. I was able to mount it right in front of my mirror for this pretty cool shot.
Tugged on the mount and it didn't budge so I figured I was good!
