Do all GT's have Track Mode or only a specific package/option?

Premium+ ppackages. Base/PP does not come with the toggles.

From my understand they are just presets that quickly turn off certain things and some modes change throttle response. It's not something that particularly give you better performance over a GT without it, it just requires more of a manual effort in the base. The base traction control has 4 modes.

Default which is on (TC/assists all on). press the button once and it turns off TC. Press the button 2 times back to back and it turns on AdvanceTrac Sport Mode. Press and hold it for around 8 seconds and it will turn all nannies off.

So just to clarify, the Premium gives you the physical airplane style Toggle switches for Snow/Rain/Track modes. Are these modes accessible without having those switches?

I understand that you can deactivate TC/SC in any Mustang, I'm more curious if a base GT has a way to access different throttle response modes.

Nope, no toggles/buttons/settings other than your foot.

If you have/get an auto dropping the shifter into sport mode will also crisp up the throttle response. Also track mode does not deactivate stability control, it loosens it to delay it taking over. I think from something like 3° to 8-9° yaw before it takes over and corrects.

The default 'start the car' mode you don't want. It feels like you're dragging a boat anchor. I have to manually put the car in 'Sport' just to have it feel normal... Every fucking time the car is started. A non-premium optioned car feels the way it should without the need to change something when its started.

Why it defaults back is beyond me. I can program my bike with different power modes, traction control levels, engine braking dynamics, even different ABS dynamics and the bike doesn't default to some nanny setting every time its started. Each mode can be altered and customized... and saved.

Does dropping the shifter to S supposedly sharpen the throttle response on the base (non premium/ no drive mode toggle selection) GT as well? I never saw a clear answer on this..

So a base GT, which does not have a sport mode, will always feel this way?
I may be misunderstanding things.
FWIW I am looking at Manuals, not Autos.

Just curious if a Base GT Manual will feel sufficiently sporty in throttle response or if I need a PP or Premium.

Thanks!

It defaults back to "Normal" mode because its...normal mode. Also, I'm guessing there might be some liability concerns there. If it stayed in track mode all the time and some idiot gets on the gas at a Cars & Coffee event...well, you know what can happen. Then they sue Ford.

The way it is now, you have to physically and purposefully change the mode so there's no "oh, I didn't realize throttle response was all the way up and traction control was off" excuses. Just saying.

All in all, it's really not that big of a deal, to me anyway. It's not like there are a ton of customizable options to set every time. I get in, start the car, move my hand over and inch and flick the toggle twice and I'm on my way.

BTW OP, I have a Premium GT, 6 speed manual, non-PP, and have all the toggles with the 4 driving modes and 3 steering modes. I'm usually in track mode 99% of the time unless it's cold or raining. The difference in having the modes or not having them comes down to Premium vs non-Premium (Base). Performance Package has no bearing on it.
