Hey Fellas -

Does anyone know if any companies are working on or making aftermarket coolers for our tech cars?

Perhaps if we are a big enough number we can get a buy group together?

I sent a PM to Mishimoto on this site. They said they might be interested in building one if the demand is there.

We are all kind of sitting around and waiting to see what Ford is going to do. If the answer is nothing.... Then I could see a large group buy coming.

You can always plumb one up yourself, not exactly rocket science.

Find a cooler that fits, secure it, run some -AN lines with fittings to a sandwich type adapter (for the oil) and boom you're done.

Obviously it would be simpler to just buy a premade kit, but for a limited run car that might not happen right away and it would be tough to just sit around not being able to fully enjoy the car on a track waiting for these companies to maybe make one.

And a class action lawsuit!

Here is a complete kit that you can fit into the GT350. It was packaged for Porshe's that do track time and can be used for Transmission or Differential cooling needs.

The cost is affordable for the kit and if you buy 2 its still not a big tug on the wallet. You can set these up to come on manually or with the included thermo switch. It also includes a filter with magnet to catch any metal bits.

Unfortunately I lack the skillset or the area to do said work :(

I will start calling local shops though.

People keep saying this, but for what? Ford specifically states if you are going to track the car get the track pack. Or get aftermarket coolers if you are going to track. Which, while I agree lame, they do seem to be covered for any sort of lawsuit in this regard.

I have tech pack car and would like a solution in the future as well. But, I knew full well what I was buying and I don't see where Ford has any legal culpability here.

The only way I can see a lawsuit working or Ford getting involved is if cars keep hitting limp mode during normal driving.

My condolences as that would suck and I can see it putting you into unsafe situations. I'd have hard time driving it period with that hanging over your head.

Given your location, I'm surprised it is happening during normal driving. I've only got a little over 1000 miles on my car, but I've hit it very hard when the temp was in the high 80s and high humidity with no issues.

As others have speculated, it makes me wonder if something else is wrong with your car or people with similar issues.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it was something else but no one seems to be able to tell me what...

My experience is the transmission runs hot, like 240-260 hot in the 80s, but wont hit limp unless its 90+, but it gets that hot nonetheless, having a high performance car that you have no confidence in during peak summer is class action material, my opinion only. That said I also think that the long term longevity for a lightweight transmission running 60-80 degrees over its cooled counterparts represents a material shortfall and deficiency especially when given the same service and change intervals.

If Ford wants to come out and ensure that 260 degrees is a perfectly fine operating temperature for long duration's, OK, Do it. I have looked at their technical data sheets for the fluid, the viscosity and protective qualities of the fluid change with temp and the variance from 180-260 is substantial.

it may not hit folks in 36k miles, but I do not think for a second the long term reliability is not materially different, regardless of track time.

No prob. I'm doing an autox event with a 1/2 mile top speed run at the end of it in two weeks as well. I know it isn't nearly the same as doing a full track event, but I'll report back if anything happens.

I don't disagree and I'm sure you can find a lawyer that will do it. Whether it works or not is another story. Also, even if the suit wins, I'm not sure you would get coolers out of it or much compensation for that matter.

Ford also warranties the car up to a point so they are covered there. After that, obviously you are on your own. But, that is the way it is with these cars. I'd be wary of buying anything in this category after the warranty is up period, regardless of track or tech pack.
