Ok. First thread. I've been all over this site for a few weeks. Love the information but now I'm getting worried. Does everybody hate their S550? "The suspension is terrible". "It is the most floaty car i've ever owned!". "The MT-82 is the worst thing ever produced!" "Fit and finish is terrible". "The vibration between 50-70 mph made my teeth explode!" And on and on and on....

I've ordered a 2017 GT premium and almost want to cancel it.

I have a 2007 Mustang GT that I ordered new from the factory in '06. Love the car. Was totally surprised how nimble it felt. I had never owned or really driven any type of performance car before that.

I've been running AutoX locally for about 5 years now. The first two seasons on stock A/S tires. Then upgraded to Rivals. Man! Felt awesome! Dominated FS here for 3 years. Also upgraded to Koni's and better rear sway. It felt better but not light years better like it did when I got new tires. Still, it wasn't until this year that other guys started beating me in FS (2016 Camaro. Sorry).

I'm not a race car driver. I don't want to be. I have no interest in going to Solo nationals. I just want a fun car that i can DD and occasionally AutoX. But at this point I feel like I should order a Toyota Yaris and save myself the headache. At least it would cost less.

I rented a S550 on a family trip (V6 auto obviously) and thought it was sweet but am I really going to like it better then my '07 in the long run? It's had almost no issues in the last 10 years of ownership and has 110,000 miles.

Anyway, how about some positive stuff?

I absolutely love my s550. The car is a different animal when compared to my 12 GT. Sure the MT-82 is a little notchy and takes some time to get used to, however, once you get more seat time the transmission isn't terrible. With that said, I did opt to get a steeda tri-ax short shifter...

The car is a little floaty, but I feel like most mustangs from the factory are. It's nothing I can't handle for a DD. In comparison to my 12 GT this car is hands down superior in every way.

You should be looking forward to your car as it is surely going to be a beast:headbang::cheers:

Hi,

I am also new to the forum and have been browsing for a few weeks. I haven't noticed many negative threads. Over at the Corvette Forum, you would think every car overheats or has a fit and finish problem. It's worth noting that most people take to the internet to try and solve problems they might encounter, so that's why you might think that it's all negative posts here.

As for your '17, you will love it. I traded in a '14 GT for my '16 premium and haven't looked back. I also owned a '00 V6 Mustang and a '99 Corvette. The '16 is light years ahead of my '14. I can't find a single thing I liked better on the '14 other than the fact that it was almost paid off. Yes, small rattles occasional occur and it may have a unique fit and finish issue, but I would not hesitate to order one. The suspension will be exponentially better than your '07 and the quality of the interior will feel like a German import after owning an S197. The MT-82 is what you make of it...I didn't care for it in my '14, but I wasn't buying an automatic (nothing against them, just like rowing gears).

In conclusion, search any car forum (Camaro, Corvette, Porsche, BMW) and you will find a lot of "my car has XXX issue," but get the '17 and don't look back

It's worth noting that I was frustrated with the quality of my '14 and was trying to sell it to buy an WRX/STI. Drove the '16 just to make sure I did not want another Mustang....I was wrong. This car is just flat out fun to drive...and the fun doesn't stop at corners or turns anymore...only gets better.

Nice! Both of you have Magnetic. That's what I ordered with the black accent package. I am pumped to get it. Just wanted to hear something positive. Thanks!

Also got to remember 99% of satisfied customers never say a word about a product while 99% of dissatisfied customers say something.

I was unhappy with pp car and traded for an auto C/S and absolutely love it.

WTF?
Its a freaking awesome car. And that comes from a Brit that think American cars cant handle like European cars.

Dunno what threads you are reading but just try some more.

People come to the internet to complain. The S550 is a great car and IMO so much better than the previous chassis. Not to mention you get the GEN2 Coyote motor which has some minor upgrades.

I have a performance package premium and the only negative comment I have is the exhaust note stock is WEAK. Haha. I enjoy the mechanical aspects of the manual transmission. I mean this transmission seems in line with most cars I have driven except whatever is in the Corvette Z06. I have yet to find something that rivals the smooth pops in gear!

The other point about Mustangs is that the aftermarket is INSANE!! I had no idea!! And that pretty much has made me at least very happy!! Whatever I don't like about this car I can upgrade and it not cost a ton of money. If something breaks? Whatever can buy new and improved.

Never thought I'd own a grey car. If I got an S550, I was planning on ordering Deep Impact Blue. Saw magnetic in person with matte black racing stripes and fell in love. Have to imagine the black accent package will really make it pop.

Forums are always a place for people to bitch about everything and nothing. I'm sure you will love your car man, don't sweat the small stuff reading things here and there.

It's really just the nature of forums. They'll always give a distorted view of owner satisfaction.

Coming from an '07, you'll love it.

Haha! You're probably right. I guess it's just easier to remember the negatives. I'll just try to stay positive! Didn't worry a bit about my '07. Of course I didn't look at a single forum then. :headbonk:

Love my car. Its hard to find anything bad to say about it unless I want to get really picky.

It's a love story for Fiona and I. And my MT-82 is great, 10,000 miles on my 2015. I have PP, I'll switch to Koni inserts and drop springs eventually but it's not that big a thing to me.

Pic for prosperity.
