So I'm about to pull the trigger on a supercharger kit.

Ive been looking at the VMP and the vortec/paxton kits from beefcake. I dont need anything crazy. This is just a street car i drive maybe a couple times a month on a sunny day. I'm obviously trying to get away with spending as less as possible, thats why i have been looking at these two kits.

I will never be taking this car to the drag strip. Its just a summer weekend toy, so im just lookin for that extra boost in power. Im trying to avoid all the extra money for other addons like OPG and other things like that. anywhere in the 600rwp range will be fine.

Are these kits my best option? any other suggestions? I thought about originally waiting till black friday or something , but really dont want to wait till next summer to be enjoying it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Paxton Beefcake Special and be done with it. It's the cheapest way other than going with 100 shot of nitrous.

Do you have emissions testing? I'm wanting to put FI on as well and am still trying to find out how to keep the OEM cats installed to pass testing.

Beefcake "special" kits are not smog/emissions legal, nor is VMP.

Paxton, it will get you where you need to be AND the intercooler and head unit is good for much more!

Seriously, Beef's Paxton special is out of this world. I can't help but think he wants everyone to enjoy the blessings of FI so he subsidizes your purchase.

I thought the D1SC was comparable to the Paxton 2200?
I believe it is, or slightly less. I think the 2200SL is good to 1,000 HP. Don't quote me on that.

EDIT: Assuming the 2200SL IS good to 1,000 HP, than yes the D1SC is good for around the same (925 HP). I came up with the extra $1,000 because I believe a Paxton kit with 2200SL would be comparable to a PC Stage II kit with the D1SC. I'll let Beef confirm that.

Looking at their website it looks like around $800 give or take cheaper for the Paxton.

I am at the same point as you. I am going HO Procharger with D1SC, Stage 2 IC and the rest of beefcake package. Didn't go Stage 2 because I wanted a shared drive system. All in all works out to be about $800 more but the install is easy with no cutting and the look overall is better imho. Plus the sound of the Procharger is OMG!

I'm in the exact same situation but I also have adaptive cruise control and collision sensor in the front to worry about
