Got rear ended today. Will need basically everything new in the back. Trunk. Bumber. My question is the two quarter panels were slightly bent from the trunk pushing them forward. When I look at them they seem to be connected to the inside of the trunk as one piece. Almost as part of the frame. So can these be fixed or replaced? Also any nice aftermarket bumpers worth looking at?

Quarter panels are welded in. So if they are not repairable in place, the orignial one will have to be cut out and a new one welded in. There was a big thread a while ago where someone showed a bunch of progress photos at the body shop when he was getting major rear end damage fixed.

The car I traded on my Mustang had a quarter panel repaired. Because its welded in it counts as a frame repair on the carfax. Expect a hassle trading it in when you decide to sell.

If you got qp dmg make a diminished value claim cause that is a major repair and your car will lose value.

I'm in NY. I was stopped at a light and some guy rear ends the lady behind me. She then hits me. Problem is this guys insurance company is going bankrupt so I have to go thru my own insurance now. Could I still get diminished value?

Chances are slim if that is the case, your carrier will not likly cover diminished value but call them as every policy is different.I don't handle NY claims so I am not familiar with the venue. If the carrier is going bankrupt then you might be sol, if the other party had a nice veh perhaps they have assets and you could pursue in small claims court. If he was driving a beater then again your likely sol.

Yea he was driving a garbage car. Guy had no teeth and was most likely high so it makes sense he has no insurance

Call your carier, if NY has uninsured motorist property damage then you might get it but I am not certain.

If your carrier excludes it from the policy then it would be best to forget about it. Sorry for the situation that sucks.

Just to be sure tho. It's supposed to go thru the guys insurance right? Not the lady who hit me? He hit her and pushed her into me

Correct, if she was pushed into you she is not at fault, therefor you can not make a claim against her policy.
