Does anyone have any idea of roughly when I can expect my Mustang, which I ordered January 7, 2016? It's been nearly 5 months and I haven't heard anything from Ford yet. Has anyone else who placed an order in Dec 2015/Jan 2016 heard anything yet? My car is a auto GT fastback.

You're nearly half way, check out some of the sticky posts at the top of the aussie section, for more of an idea of timing.

Things could change by the time yours is built and maybe end up with a shorter wait, but it doesnt seem likely so far.

When hell freezes over.....
No I ordered May 2015 car has just been built 4 days ago. I'm expecting delivery if I am lucky mid July but prob will be late July early August. Dont expect to hear from Ford ever but somewhere about late Nov early DEC you should get a VIN. 15 months is about the norm. Some people have got earlier deliveries but they are probably close relatives of Henry Ford....

Sometimes I think I haven't really ordered a car and I'm in a kind of matrix world where nothing is real.....
At least I am off to Europe for 2 months so when I get back it will be very close. Lots of friends have offered to collect it if it arrives early before we come back. Very considerate.
Could have been worse - it could have arrived the day after we leave.
Everything could have been worse - part of our roof blew off in the storms today and the volunteer SES came and fixed it..Good on them! Stars!

14 to 15 months seems to be the norm for delivery.
We ordered in Oct 2014 - had our first contact from Ford in Oct 2015, telling us that it had been built on 15th Sept 2015.
Dealer estimated delivery in Jan/Feb 2016.
Rolled off the ship 18/12/15 and we picked it up on 29/12/15.
It's a process - prepare to go through it with little help from Ford Aust.
We didn't hassle the dealer daily but he was good enough to give us the right info when he got it.

Cheers

J

Mine was ordered Sept. 15 and I have heard absolutely zilch from dealer or Ford.
Only info supplied has been from Ford facebook.
Build brought forward from Sep to May due to colour ending (Comp Orange).

Hmm, well the dealer did tell me the same "12-15 months", but that was before the announcement of the extra 2000 allocation for Australia. Won't that speed up the wait?

it seems to be inconsistent but i'll share my experience. i ordered 30 Nov 15 and was also told 1 year+. I've been given a build date of june 2 16 and expected delivery of late August, so 9 months total. my guess is that the extra 2000 units allocated to Aus earlier in the year has reduced lead times. i reckon it's not 12-15 months anymore but others may have had a different experience.

Mine was ordered late December 2015 and it is looking like a July 2016 build, delivery October.

I imagine you'll have yours in the last qtr this year ...

Yeah I'd agree it probably up to 12 months however i think ford and dealers will continue to quote 12 to 15 months as it better for them to manage customer expectations and under deliver on arrival dates.

I also placed an order back in January 2016 and was advised end of this year / start next year delivery. I hope that with the additional 2000 allocations we are going to get our Christmas presents on time! At this stage I still don't have an NSC number

with all the talk about an extra 2000, remember that is for the entire year. Still will help with reducing delivery times, but still a lot of orders from 2015 are yet to be fulfilled.
Oders taken as of March 2016 - 6000
2016 build allocation - 4000 = 333 per month
2017 build allocation - 6000 = 500 per month

Build is based on dealers allocation, was not supposed to effect pre-orders, but that will explain why some get them built before others.

I ordered August last year and been told build should start in July. 89 days from build till it reaches Aus. So October - November delivery, 13-14months. I wouldn't expect anything quicker than that. If you are expecting less than 15 months you will probably end up disappointed. The dealers/ford don't ultimately know for sure and are purely guessing. Now if my timeframes are accurate for example, then those of you ordering in Dec-Jan are definately going to be disappointed expecting a 3rd quarter delivery this year.

Also, seeing a lot of complaints about not hearing from ford. That is normal. Car companies don't usually contact people to give you information. You will know when it's near to delivery from the dealer or receiving a VIN number. Both my brothers are salesmen for different car manufacturers and say the customer is never told until near on delivery.

In this day and age, that's not really good enough.

If we are able to obtain most of this information independently (through advice given on forums such as this), then it's not too much to expect a dealership who you have entered a contract worth circa 60K with to provide you with an update every couple of months - especially with a process that takes over a year.

Sadly, car salesmen generally lose interest in the customer once their signature has been obtained.
