Good MPG in a GT

I'm anywhere from 18.5-20.0 mpg around town being very conscious of the throttle. Best I've managed out on the highway is about 24.5 mpg. But, I live in the Himalayas, out on perfectly flat ground I'm sure I could get better. Starting to kick myself for not going Performance Pack or at the very least upgrading to 3.55's. When I ordered the car, I guess I forgot where I lived.

Averaging about 18.5-19 MPG so far local mixed driving, not bad at all for a V8, blows my V6 JK Wrangler away, LOL!

My TJ Wrangler was rather thirsty, too. Really terrible gas mileage. It is comical how the GT's is better.

lol idk how people think this is impossible i can go 75 and get 30mpg on 93. i live in florida the roads are flat. hell i get 21mpg on the high way on E85.

So I take it none of you do rev-matching? as that kills the petrol, but sounds so sweet

Best I've gotten is 22 with speeds of 70-80. GT PP with the 3.73.

I will let everyone know as I go along. My son and I are driving from NJ to California and back so I will post my average numbers when I can.

Who da heck wants to get 29MPG on a GT? You sir are not doing it right!
I get like 10MPG in the city, and 20MPG on the highway.

8500 miles on my car and my overall average is 21mpg. I had a EcoBoost as well and that got 24mpg with 4000 miles. I am really happy with the MPG of the GT.

Honestly, I have my GT for the smiles -- but people looking at the mileage of the V8 still have the right idea. Mileage has to be considered in order to save the V8 -- but as others have said -- and I have too as this thread gets recreated every other day -- the manual transmission is what's really on the chopping block, although I don't see the manual transmission being impactful one way or another on CAFE requirements.

Agree; I drive a GT auto, and sometime regret not getting a manual, but to be honest the Ford manual was nothing to write home about. I really wish Ford would start working on a DSG tranny, most new super cars like the Lamborghini's are not even using manuals anymore, they have super slick DSG Auto trans that are so fast. I had a DSG in my VW and it was awesome. I really hope Mustangs can benefit from this in the future.

In stop and go traffic the mileage is absolutely horrific. I average 12-13 mpg on my commute home

Hell Yeaa now that's what I like to hear.....no offense or anything, just wanted to make sure my sixxer was getting more city mpg than the GT's.
