Two years ago my wife's 6 month old Honda Pilot took $5000 of jail damage and my roof took a $9000 hit. I now keep the garage cleaned out this time of the year, quilts and cardboard boxes handy for her car that cannot fit in the garage. I can throw some boxes on top and put the quilts on it pretty quick.
A lot of cars got totaled out that day. What really sucks is this was one reason my car insurance company dropped us this year.

I've been sweating it myself. Have been keeping my truck outside while I have been trying to sell my 05. Luckily I sold it today so now I got them both back in the garage. About 4 years ago my house got pelted with baseball size hail for a tune of 12k damage. A few years before that my previous truck got hit at work. This part of country is horrible for hail.

We got a little hail here last night. Just the thought of it makes my guts roll over, and my car is tucked safely in the garage. I got caught in a vicious hail storm in Kansas last August in my 2012 GT - golf ball size up to baseball size. I was one of the lucky ones in that I didn't lose any glass. Roof, trunk, hood, and left front fender had to be replaced. $8k plus later, and less than 24 hours after I picked it up from the body shop, I traded it in on my Ruby beast. So, I guess there IS a bright spot...but f**k hail...

Fluke hail storm popped up around 4am a few weeks back and crushed my car to the tune of 8k in repairs. Going to need a new hood, decklid, roof repainted and even then a few PDR. Owned it barely a month and a half. Seems a right of passage as my 2011 went through the exact same thing. Ah well, at least the first "dent" is out of the way.

i got stuck in hail yesterday sped to the nearest shelter, luckily i dont see any damage but i was stressing hard for that 30 seconds in the hail

When I was getting divorced about 10 years ago the ex was living in kansas. She was supposed to return her Hyundai to me, so when the time came she drove in and left it in airport parking then flew back out. When she was about to leave Kansas she said "oh by the way, there was a hail storm. It's pretty bad". I go pick it up and it was a blood bath. Every panel was dented. Hood, roof and trunk lid were obliterated. Back glass shattered. She didn't even offer to help with the deductible. Then the body shop did the ole "charge insurance for new parts but bond the old ones" trick. I busted them on it and had solid proof but insurance did nothing and I was hit with another deductible. I was pissed.

My car got hailed on two days ago with a downpour of penny sized hail for a good 5mins. I was freaking out but it ended up not leaving a mark
