The decision has been made, I got a little bit lucky today.

Someone had the motor pulled out of his '16 5.0 in order to do a full twin turbo build and he went with a new race block(don't remember which one), etc. his block had very low miles and no issues. They're going to build that block, Wiesco pistons, Manley rods, billet OPG, all new bearings, etc, etc. I should have it down there and they're going to get it started in 2 weeks.

I really wanted to try and make a Livernois shortblock work, but unfortunately it just didn't fit into my budget, and Mark Zuckerberg didn't come through with the billion dollars I asked him for, so a built bottom end w/ stock block is what I'm going with.
Hell ya man, good decision, and the route I would take. So it's a factory short block that the shop had? Or did you find it online somewhere. If you don't mind, could you post up a break down of the cost when it's all said and done. I'm interested to see what a build like this sets you back.

That's going to be a stout motor that allows you the flexibility to turn it up when you get bored with confidence.

They had the block at their shop from a recent build.

The shop is going to check it out to see if they can find the cause when they tear everything down.

Damn didn't hear about that. I was running Mobil 1. MMR OPG coming today, waiting on the rest of the internals to get in. The car is going to the shop on Wednesday and they're going to tear it down.

Now you've got me thinking about ditching 5/20 Amsoil when I put the Whipple on.

For all who are wanting to know what the best oil is for you motor you need to read this. This is the most extensive oil study and testing I've ever seen. Over 180 oils tested to the point of failure for shear protection and durability. The Most important factor in an engines oil is to protect metal parts from contact via the oil wedge effect. The oils ability to resist shear is the number one concern. This test gives every oil a shear rating at a PSI level with oil at realistic engine temps. The top brands and most expensive oil don't always produce the best protection as you will find out. It's a long read but well worth the effort if you love your motor. Oh yeah...and thin oils like 0-20 and 5-20 according to this study produce top rated shear resistance as well as faster flow through the engines parts which in effect creates better cooling and in the end better protection.

Edit: Make sure you read section 2 on oil viscosity (very important)

I was amazing to me the oil that scored the highest was not only not expensive but available everywhere and was in our viscosity range. 21$ for 5 quart jug.

QUAKER STATE ULTIMATE DURABILITY SYNTHETIC 0-20, 5-20

Do you or anyone have a link to the shortblock so I can check out the pricing. I've got all the info to go with a 2015 oem shortblock, id like to compare.

Also an update, engine will be ready to come out by tomorrow/next day
DO NOT GO WITH A FACTORY SHORTBLOCK.. You have the motor out, spend the extra coin for a built SHORTBLOCK... MMR, Livernois, JPC, etc.. All have decent pricing on shortblocks.. I would rather go into a gun fight with a bulletproof vest.. Think of it like that.. If you can come up with the extra cash get a longblock with some ported heads.. Take advantage of misfortune.. It is hard to want to spend the coin.. I know... If you go longblock you can sell your stock parts and get some cash back...:headbang:
