Will be getting my car in a few weeks and I am wanting to know your guy's technique on tieing down a car using enclosed trailer. Let me know where you have your D-Rings mounted and where you run your straps.
Thanks

you have to use the D-rings or wheel straps.
company I used, had the d-ring hooks for the car.
Some will have will straps, some won't.

I don't think that the renting company has wheel straps, but they'll be provinding regular straps that tie down to the floor.
Then in that case , i guess i'll have the straps go through the wheel !

They asked me if i wanted to get either the F350 or Ram3500 ? Wanna guess what my answer was ! ;)

Fill entire trailer with expandy foam. :)
That's a good one. :D

Wheels are best. When you use factory tie downs on the chassis you have to compress the suspension or the car will continue to move around and can even throw a strap off. The wheels are solid to the trailer so there is no risk of movement. Be sure to cross the straps, ie driver side wheel to a point on the passenger side of the trailer. Doing that helps with the leverage moving side to side so you have the least chance of having an issue.

Thanks , i also read some people recommended putting car in neutral while strapping , then once finished apply parking brake and leave tranny in neutral.

I'll be doing this very thing on Thursday, first time with an enclosed trailer so I can share my experience after that. I plan strapping to the wheels with vulcan straps and leaving the car in neutral with parking brake. Will be crossing straps and towing for about 250 miles!

I actually replied to your thread and asked to report back on how loading up the car with the splitter installed will go !

I was thinking of bringing some 2X10's just in case the ramp is too steep.

Congratz on your new ride.....again. :)

No problem, I'll post pictures. Trailer in using is pretty low with a long door. But at the advice of this forum I also picked up some race ramps so that should help me out quite a bit. Search for the trailer ing thread and I attached an excel on there that lets you know based on your trailer dimensions and dimensions of the car, what you need for clearance.

Ok, Your going to secure it by the tires, what are you going to do about keeping the body from bouncing around?

I would bring the 2x10's. I have my trailer guy waiting in the wings.
Let me ask you guys who are picking up. How long did your car sit at Flat Rock??

Mine was built a month ago tomorrow and still has not moved from the plant and I am really bummed. Just can't fathom why.

Ok will do, thanks. Now that you've mentionned it, i will bring my race ramp as well.

Went to check out the trailer today, it's a 8' X 20 . I'm just worried that i might hit the chin spoiler if i have it installed before taking delivery.

Just straps is what people usually do.

My car is getting built tomorrow with an ETA of April 4th. Hopefully everything will go smooth sailing.

This is my third time ordering a Mustang, and so far it has always been a pleasant experience with no delays. Fingers crossed.

Have you called FP ?
