I ordered my GT350 on 6/11/15...

Ultimately, this issue may affect around 2,500 cars, but it only will affect a very small number of owners.[/QUOTE]

This is where I have some concern. With "fix" that someone spelled out, you have to hit limp mode before ford will even talk to you.

That creates an uncertain used market down the road were people won't know if the issue has been addressed.

It a known issue that ford should fix on all, regardless if the owner hit limp or not.

I agree that it was marketed as a track capable car - with different levels of capability. They are clearly not zero capable of track duty.

So 350, 350LX, 350T and 350R make sense to you but 350 Tech and 350 track don't?

The saw option packages yes, but the only "trims" I saw were Gt350 and GT350R

See and I suspect that many people really only want this done because there is angst that the 2017 models have both and they are worried about having the "lesser" model...which I don't feel is true. Worried more about value compared to the incoming model as opposed to actually driving it on the track for that last 5 minutes.

Everyone obsessed about every option and every package - so many Vs. threads around here but now everyone is confused?

Here, this is what I was talking about - plenty of marketing out there that is being ignored in these threads of cherry picking quotes.

Right, when people were talking tech vs track, I never saw anyone saw "you'll get less than 20 mins on a track"

Most agreed that going once or twice a year as a novice and spending the rest of the year on the street that the tech package would be better.

Honestly, I've never tracked, but I was hoping to do a couple events at Hockenheim and Nurburgring. And with my skill I'd be more of a tourist driver than a straight up track guru.

But 15 mins seems so useless.

Well 15 minutes might be all you want to do at a time anyway - just starting out. When I first started, I cut a run or two short just from mental exhaustion.

Regardless, I cant wrong anyone for wanting it all. I've just been making a case against the blame-game and the "I never knew" concept. There haven't been any instances of the aftermarket not stepping up to fill any of the deficiencies in previous models so give it time.

PS - Ford isn't ever going to put a specific number on these things. First, they have no way of knowing the track or the experience of the driver...ambient temps.. Anyway, stating an exact number would certainly cause people to accuse them of not meeting those numbers when the end-user fell short or conditions didn't allow. Ford doesn't even provide track times for their track cars...They market is as "We want everyone else to go experience it for themselves" but really, they are just sticking to their guns on not providing numbers that people can hold them to.

So, will I even be able to legally use that 8200 RPM on the street?

Legally only if you are in a 55MPH+ zone, as first gear maxes out at around 55 I believe.

Well, let's just start with better than what a Mustang GT can do.

It's a give and take. I don't think we know if the GT trans is jut cooking over there or not. Also, the GT trans doesn't and likely cant do 8250rpm on a regular basis..and it's heavy. Pick your evils. Would you give up smooth shifting at high RPMs for less heat? If your have a tech and drive primarily on the street, I doubt it.

And some of the 2016 GTs with rear diff temp sensor have been overheating the rear diff at the track. Previous models didnt have this and none of the GTs with manual trans have a trans temp sensor.

The question of how long an non-Track or R mustang "should" be able to remain on track before it exceeds the Ford-programmed performance limits is a debate with many sides. I do think its fair to say, however, that when a Tech or Base GT350 has to be the first car off the track, most people will ask some form of "hey, what's wrong" question.

With respect to a major piece of this whole conversation--what buyers should have known or concluded before purchase--everyone raise their internet hands who believe that marketing materials and reports were clear that you COULD NOT add factory coolers . . .

For me, this is the most significant issue. The owners manual recommends adding coolers that are not available. Post-purchase materials now say add aftermarket coolers that also don't exist and will likely defeat a factory warranty. It forces Tech and Base owners into a hole that shouldn't exist.

And how often is someone legally hitting that 8200 rpm on the street?
