2017 Mustang Colors (Updated: Lightning Blue, Platinum White, Grabber Blue PICS)

Sorry if its been asked again, but why are the euro lights on these?

Someone implemented them via Photoshop into a EuroMustang configuration site.

They're not official FoMoCo pictures.

I´m sorry but they are actually official FoMoCo pictures.

They already appear on UK Configurator (and only in UK, f.e: nor Spain or France configurator) :

• Grabber Blue is shown if you select old "Competition Orange" (is it going to be a "free" color????).
• New Lightning Blue is shown if you select old "Deep Impact Blue".
• New white is shown if you select "Guard"

I also figured out that LB cannot be build with dark saddle....(nor GB, but DIB could)

Not per our local laws, but per some Ford designer with extremely bad taste.

The light image of the export taillights has been altered to accomodate the widely different legal requirements throughout Europe, Asia and Australia, like 5 instead of 7 brake light points and single amber blinking instead of sequential red.

There is however absolutely no legal requirement for clear lenses. That is just extremely poor judgement by Ford design and the majority of buyers over here hate them.

^^^ When I said "white tail lights" it meant the functionality of the system as a whole to satisfy the laws for export countries that require that kind of functionality. I suspect Ford decided to use all clear/white tail light lenses and make them light up via LEDs as yellow and red, and blink as required by the laws of the countries they export to.

OK...So we have photographs of a Fusion in Lightning Blue and photographs of a catalog showing Lightning Blue (Post #191) and both show a more typical metallic blue along the lines of Vista Blue. Then we have this ugly teal, aqua marine blue that is showing up on the configurator. So which is it? Would they have a color with the same name be drastically different between two models? Also, the catalog clearly states Mustang, and it is nothing like the teal color on the configurator. Is it safe to assume this teal color is misleading us and we are instead going to get a nice, classic blue?

I would not get hung up on anything that is not official. Also when I ordered my car color was the last choice I made. I seen Guard on the build and price on the Ford web page, liked it, and decided to check it out for myself. The only car they had in Guard was a Fusion and I hated it. I went back the next day, they had a Guard Mustang, that's what I ordered.

Bottom line. Until you can see it on an actual car do not trust anything.

I think that's a safe assumption. Apart from black all the fotoshopped colors in the configurator are quite to even way off, but this Lightning Blue takes the biscuit.

From the regular pictures we have seen so far LB is a tad lighter than DIB and less purple-ish. I doesn't even remotely look like the teal that's in the configurator.

Personally I'm not surprised by Ford's choice for this new blue as it is in line with all the other very poor color choices mrs Lampinen has made for the S550 generation:

Oxford White < Performance White
Deep Impact Blue < Kona Blue
Triple Yellow < Screaming Yellow
Competition Orange < Grabber Orange
Magnetic < Gun Metal Grey
Guard < Gotta Have It Green
Black < Any Metallic Black

The only colors that I think are best choice for their kind are Race Red, Ruby Red and Ingot Silver. As an alternative blue I do like Grabber Blue a lot and I think the Pearl White is a good addition too.

Nevertheless a very poor choice by Ford to go with the clear housing because with LED technology it is extremely simple to make amber blinkers, even when the housing itself is as red as the US version. Actually that is even a lot easier than making red lights come out of a clear housing. In daylight conditions our taillights are more pink than red.

Also the deletion of the sequential blinker function is a big miss because even though it may not be compliant in every EU/Pacific country, it actually is allowed in a lot of them and now none of us get it. People over here really miss it because it's just so cool. Next to the deletion of the tribar DRLs it is the most discussed feature of the export cars.

And all this could have easily been done much better with one global red unit and different firmware settings per export country.

The DRL in some EU countries has to be seen from legally defined angles. The Tribars are not fitting these.
But there are aftermarket solutions for the DRL-Tribars and Sequential Rearlights. In germany both are illegal, so I give them a pass.

I actually love the clear rearlights, looking great on DIB.
