so far the stats on this forum is:
with the exception of 1 tech pack car, every single tech/base car went to limp mode after 10-15mins.

I know ford is working on a solution, they have to. but it also makes me wonder what kinda testing were they doing in the first place? if they know the car won't do 10mins of track in 60F temp, why would they even release it for public purchase?

Also, track days are not cheap, you pay a fixed cost to go there, cost you gas to go there. if you are suppose to get 6 sessions of full 20mins, but now are getting 6 sessions of 12 mins. you are losing money right there. is Ford gonna pay for that loss?
I asked myself that same question. I remember seeing all those camoed cars testing on the ring and thinking to myself. " wow they're testing the crap out of these cars ".

I know they were probably testing track pack cars, but nevertheles we should be able to do at least 25% of what these cars are capable of.

I know it is little consolation, But I do believe Ford will have a fix for this.
From what we know, they got on it quickly, after even a few cars were reported.
Yes, maybe they new there would be more, but I think they will find a solution.
Hard to have patience after waiting so long, but I suspect it will be quick.

I wonder if Ford really thought, very few tech cars would see that track?
They should have known what Mustang owners will do with these cars, with the history of the car & owners.

It's far worse than "thought they wouldn't see track time". The first time it went into limp mode, 10min of follow the leader, in traffic, never going much over 7000rpm, if at all. Remember, I had instructor with me and another student following to learn the line. This was 10 min of easy track driving.

I was same pace as GT with performance package, with beginner driver learning the track. Ford should be very embarrassed....and worried. Why did I pay $30,000 more for the GT350 when the GT performs better at the end of the day???

Unfortunately this isn't true Porsche and BMW dealerships are allowed to charge ADMs take it from somebody who has paid over MSRP on an e46 m3 when they first came out not to mention the people who buy gt3s and see the ADMs on those cars as well as the m4 GTS. I have a friend who was offered a GTS for $50k over MSRP...he passed.

embarrassing yes but its not the end of the world. they can easily

-produce some sort of scoop or shield to block the 2 cats from heating up the tranny
-increase the temp limit which will trigger the limp mode
-higher capacity cooler with holds more oil
-better fluid

all of the above are fairly easy to do. the pump is a non-issue, just wire to battery terminal.

the question here is not if, but rather WHEN it will be ready and at what cost to us.

for sure they dropped the ball on the tech pack/base which accounts for over 65% of the order.

You bet your arce they knew, that's why they put the coolers standard across the line up.
Just patiently waiting on my ' 16 to show up in a few weeks and hoping we hear
from FP soon.

I hope they can resolve it quickly. Ford lets their dealers do HUGE markups. Porsche and BMW don't allow this from dealers. I'm sure we all paid a hefty premium for our GT350s (love your R). If they don't fix it fast and "do right" by all us initial purchasers, word will definitely get out. Values will drop. Poor reputation for the car will set in. That will hurt a lot more than me not getting a full 15 minutes of tracktime!

I appreciate all the comments from everyone. Nice forum!
They certainly do have markups, and they are insane on the GT cars.

Locally the M2s are also demanding ADMs.

I looked into this quite seriously on whether to go with the tech or track pack. I talked to veteran HPDE track guys and even pro racers. The consensus at the time was that the coolers would be nice but not necessary. So I wanted a track car but also wanted the comforts of the tech pack. Remember even if you are a serious track guy you spend most of your driving time off the track.
Fair enough:cheers:

I do think a lot of folks were relying on past track experience where additional coolers were not neeed, unfortunately im guessing not too many of those other cars were 500hp+ with 8k+ redlines

FWIW, engineers said that the challenge will be the electrical for the tranny and differencial coolers. This coming from a member of the other site that spoke to A FP employee who is in contact with Ford engineers.
Hope this is all true.

Like arsenalrocks said, what will be the cost for the cooler upgrades , cuz for sure this ain't gonna be free and i can understand it.

What i'd like to see is Ford pay labor ( installed by a certified Ford dealership )for the coolers, and i'd be fine paying for parts.

I think that sounds fair.

Looked at the new Porsche GT4. I could get it at list, but dealer allocates to best customers first. Same for BMW M2, no mark up, but a waiting list. Both dealers told me their manufacturers don't let them mark up. I don't know? Interesting though the Porsche guy said that one of their customers got one of the few 911 GT3RS, but dealer made them also buy a GT4. So, in a way that's a mark up, I guess.

No, this fix should be at NO cost to customers. This is a design flaw. Simple.

unfortunately it won't be a no cost. the track pack guys will be angry if it is. they paid 6500 USD extra now ford is giving away the most important content for free?

I agree with montreal ponies tho labor should be free (as if this is warranty issue) and parts on us at a reasonable price.

I hear 'ya but the fact of the matter is Ford won't cover the price of retrofitting our base/tech cars with all the track/R cars cooling hardware for free.

But i could be wrong. Let's wait and see.

Who said for free? No one can confirm '17 pricing yet.

EDIT: nevermind...I can't read.

First it does seem to be more than just lack of coolers if track cars are also experiencing this so the fix will likely also help them. Second I'm a little surprised with still at least a 1000 cars to go this MY that Ford has no plans to install coolers on the remaining Techs for this year. Granted I don't know the logistics involved and they may be impossible to overcome but they are building Tracks now and clearly are soon going to be putting coolers on Techs by another name. Makes more sense to do it upfront even at a surcharge rather than retrofit something.

No one has confirmed if the TP that went into limp mode was due to the tranny temps.

On my car, the tranny temp runs the coolest compared to the engine oil and diff, so it could something else on that car (or completely unrelated to any of the above)

When the car goes into "limp" mode, does it display the reason on the dash? Transmission overheating? Low/high Oil pressure, temp? Or does the car go into limp mode ONLY when the trans overheats? Can it go into limp mode for other reasons?
