the 2nd (dotted) is a carbon-fiber-like look, it's on the GT with the performance pack. probably on other models with PP as well. non-pp cars get the brushed metal...

i'm not sure if non-pp cars can be ordered with the cf look via a package or not?

I'm sure some 3rd party can make something like that. I personally hate that look lol.

Edit: I found out the carbon fiber like appearance is called ""Engine Turn" Aluminum Instrument Panel"

It's a faux turned metal finish.

It's real aluminum, and it's actually machined. It only comes on the performance pack.

I don't think its GT PP that gets the faux carbon fiber metal look. I believe it's all GT. I also have it and I have a base GT.

Um, me too. Base model with carbon fiber looking dash.
like i suspected, it is available with a different package, according to the mustang configuration on ford's website, the package is called "interior and wheel package"

EDIT: another thing i noticed with that package i mentioned, is that the seats change in that the "base" gt seats have a cloth strap (like my car does) on the sides of the seats and i have no idea what that's for (seatbelts maybe) whereas the I&W package has what looks like a molded plastic form in place of the strap. interesting to know if you guys have that plastic molded or the cloth strap?

EDIT 2: on zooming in with the interior and wheel package picture, it looks like it's just a darker version of the aluminum dash, without a pattern, whereas the PP actually shows the dash has a pattern to it.

crazy - wonder if there was some type of change?

Was just about to ask if others with it had that package. Which I do too.

Turned metal (aluminum), yes. Faux, no. It's the real deal. Pop off a trim piece and you'll see for yourself!

Small little thing that has been making me crazy.

One shows that is a brushed aluminum finish. While the other looks dotted (not sure how to describe it)
In which scenario will I get a brushed aluminum finish and in what scenario will I get the other?
I think the more important question people are ignoring on the second photo is why is the Oil Pressure gauge a different backlight color than the rest of the gauges??
