I didn't even know that light can be turned off. That's helpful to know!

Lol so I have another question. Whats the best way to remove the camera from the window? I realized that its sitting a bit too low and want to move it a little higher so its a bit more out of sight. Unfortunately the double sided tape is on there pretty good and I dont want to break the camera lol.

First thing is remove the camera from the mount  Then good luck with prying that tape off. I very gently placed mine on the glass while I leveled it so I could pull it off and move it before I permanently attached it.

Wish I could teach y'all how to just tap and solder to a wire without those fuse taps, saving money, but then you'd have to buy a soldering iron and solder, losing the cost savings, haha. Those fuse taps are nice but often poorly made. I only get the ones from Autozone/O'Reilly which I can take back immediately if the blades are too thin, etc.

I'm pretty much a "right tool for the right job" kinda guy. Who wants to mess with messy soldering and wrapping wires around fuses? Not really professional. Plus, I can always remove them and go back to the stock setup if I have to.

When installing a car alarm or remote start, if it isn't soldered, it isn't done right.

This isn't tapping into critical ignition wires so... of course it's fine.

Is there a way to get the camera into events-only mode?

The problem is here in Germany, the law can be pretty strict about DashCams in continuous record mode (privacy rights and big fines). And it depends on each individual judge if the video is admissible or not. All pretty hazy. I read that the are illegal in Switzerland and you need a special permit in Austria!

Any help with my my question is appreciated.

Bump...

Things not looking real good for a dash cam install in Bavaria or even Germany for that matter.

Just installed this yesterday. Wires hide perfectly and even the fuse tapping was pretty easy (I am not an electrician by any means). Getting to the ground was tough, but like OP said its easier to move the blue part and reach it with a wrench extender. The blue part actually slides off its clip that is holding it up which was easier than pulling the complete harness down.

I hid the majority of the wires with the fuses but I was able to route the program module into the glove box pretty easily and attach it using the provided 3M tape. This makes getting to the module easier than hiding with the fuses.

One question I have for you guys that have this dash cam. What sensitivity threshold did you guys use. While driving, every little bump activates the event mode (system beeps).

I've got mine maxed out to be as insensitive as possible and turned off the beep. If it's recording, I don't need to differentiate.

I don't know of any way to record events only, even with the custom Russian firmware. I'd be leery of event only reliability anyway.

Thanks for the install thread, this really helped while installing mine today.

Pretty simple install, but like stated before, the ground is a complete pain in the ass. It took me at least an hour to get the ground in. Less than 30 minutes for the entire rest of the install.
