TPMS Questions ??

I need to get a set of TPMS for my R spec wheels I ordered on this forum. I have 2 questions:

1. What is the Ford P/N for the TPMS sensors?

2. What does it take to program them? In my experience, most cars have the sensors programmed to the car such that if you use a different set of wheels (and TPMS), they have to get programmed to the car. How does it work on these cars?

Looks like I need a set of 4 Ford TPMS's and the Ford transmitter to reset the car computer to a second set of wheels. Haven't seen anyone lower than this:

Anyone actually have experience changing TPMS, or using second set of wheels, and using this Ford transmitter to rest the system? Is it really that easy to rest and then the TPMS works? Its a really nice feature to have on track.

It's really easy using instructions you can find on youtube. The Fords that don't have a readout showing each individual tire don't even throw a code when you swap the tires/rims out, so there's no work needed to reset the system. Of course with the individual readings you need to teach the computer which sensor is on which corner of the car.

incorrect... your car autolearns, so you just need to buy four TPMS sensors and after a short drive the car will figure out that it has new signals from new sensors and will autolearn.

you just need four sensors. Our cars have been autolearning since like 2011 or 2012.

Thanks for the feedback. Also been told that S550s are auto learning and do not need any programming device. Always wondered why they didn't do it that way. Perfect for an extra set of track wheels. More kudos for Ford :ford:

There were people that supposedly needed a tool and everything on-line states that it's needed - but as Danielle said - TPMS in my second sets of wheels worked just fine after installation.

the only scenarios i've noted this have been those that have used replacement sensors that were compatible, but a genuine ford part.

Do we really need the TPMS? I am ready to order a second set for the track and was not going to worry about paying extra for the TPMS as I am capable of checking tire pressures myself without a computer telling me they are low.

well it's government mandated, so your car will tell you about the "low tire pressure" every single time you start it up.

If it's for the track and the track only, then i could reason that I'd skip the TPMS - but i'm frugal as hell with that kinda stuff.

For daily driving on the road though? get them every time.

How about $77 for a set of 4 genuine Ford parts? I just ordered a set.

My 2011 GT autolearned and my 2015 base GT autolearned, but not the 2016 GT350, and the 2015 was compatible with the 2011 sensors, but the 2016 was not compatible with those sensors.

good to know I was told my 2012 sensors can be used on 2016

Don't forget that the GT350 comes with metal valve stems, not rubber. Metal stems are highly recommended for track duty and speeds over 130mph.

I have yet to find the Ford part number for TPMS sensors with metal valve stems.

Car does auto-learn the new sensors.

I had an issue in which my front left tire on my aftermarket wheels kept reading low. I would manually check it, and tire pressure was fine. After a few trips, I realized that the low tire wasn't the one on my front left, but it was my rear right. For some reason, the sensors were not showing which side/position they were in. This time around I got the ford racing tpms sensors with the programming tool to make sure everything syncs up!

My search shows this PN is wrong. My search also shows that what I ordered is also wrong :headbonk:

Agree with other post that metal stems are better for track use. Wonder what the correct Ford part number is for stock TPMS? Anyone?
