I don't know how a year old article could be outdated. I just don't believe Ford would stuff turbo sixes in all their high performance vehicles. An updated 6.2 liter V8 with a SC would make for nice Mach 1.

6.2 is never gonna happen. Old engine foundation and they won't retool it ($$$) when a coyote is just as good NA. The likelihood of a V8 larger than 5.2L in a Mustang is basically zero...downsizing is the way of things, not to mention that is the limit for the bore spacing of the coyote.

Since what does appear to be agreed on is 700+hp for the next GT500, how do you think Ford will configure a 5.2 to make that kind of power?

S/C, DI, FPC...etc?

Supercharged, bored out 5.0 to 5.2 cross plane like shown by Ford Performance, DI+PFI. Should be good for reliable 700 I think. Hellcat eat your heart out.

Thanks Bmac.

I read that Ford reportedly wants to add 50hp on top of the 662 hp in the '13-'14 GT500's.

That's a good starting point. :p

lmao THEY ARE NOT GOING TO PUT A v6 IN A mach1 DUDE THAT'S YOU'RE PIPE DREAM
Who would have thought Ford would ever stick a V6 inside the almighty Ford GT? Well, they did. The Mach1 isn't as special as the GT, so what makes you think it would be spared? Get ready to be surprised. ;)

Good luck trying to fit a TT V6 in the S550. It takes up more room in the F-150 than the 5.0. It'll require significant retooling for the 7th gen to put in, in order to meet package requirements.

Imho Ford could sell those miniscule 250 GT's a year even with a TT 4 cyl.

Re: the Raptor you also mentioned in this thread; not sure that buyer cares much if its a TT V6 or a V8. Since is certainly should be a better overall vehicle than the 1st gens, perhaps that's all the incentive a Raptor buyer may need.

BmacIL already said why your TT V6 "GT500 (Mach 1)" 6Gen ain't happenin'.

Ford is using flagship vehicles to showcase new technology and the EcoBoost brand..and Ford seems to be pointing towards boosted V6's.

That being said, with the info that a TTV6 won't fit in the S550..that kind of puts that to bed.

If a Mach 1 resurfaces, my guess is it'll be a CPC 5.2..

GT500=Boosted CPC 5.2...be it twins or a blower, I don't venture to guess.

Now that would be cool.........a 5.2 N/A CPC for the Mach 1 and add a blower for the GT500 :headbang:

Assuming there is a Mach 1.......ThePill seemed to think that was just the codename for the GT500 engine, so who knows

TTv6 will fit in the s550. They'll need to make changes to the intercooler/charge pipe piping and condense a bit but it's def capable of fitting.

I'll come back to this comment in about a year. We'll see who had it right then.
