Catless would probably gain 5-10 more too if anyone wanted to go that route. I'm very impressed, but I knew Kooks would do it right.
Catless might gain a few HP over the Kooks Green Cats, but the sound damping properties of the Kooks cats was preferred. I do several events per year that have to be run with strict noise restrictions.

I'm more interested in keeping the stock mufflers until someone makes a active muffler. I like the idea to choose between modes. Sounds good though.
I liked the sound of the OEM mufflers on the video with the Kooks Headers and X-Pipe. Bu tI like the sound before it even went to Kooks. The whole reason I took the car was to uncork the factory exhaust and gain power.

Do we know if they had the stock mufflers open or closed? Also are the kooks mufflers active? I still can't believe the mufflers added 10hp.
The Stock mufflers open at WOT. The Kooks mufflers are not active. However, they are built to accept the valves so that their are zero issues with the cars computer system. The driving modes will still be active even though this car uses a non active muffler system. No tune needed. I was also very surprised to see such a difference in mufflers on a NA combo. Its all about moving a large volume of air efficiently.

Bone Stock the car made 466.72 HP / 390.19 TQ
With Kooks Headers, Catted X-Pipe and OEM Mufflers it made 481.86 HP / 406.66 TQ
With Full Kooks Exhaust it made 491.02 HP / 410.01 TQ

There have been no other mods made to the car. The tune is still bone stock. I am very impressed with the gains and I know the car will pick up more from just a tune. I hope to get it tuned next week before the 1/2 mile race in Ocala, FL. I'll post the graph soon.
Frankly, those are some awesome gains!

Thank you. I have to agree. I can't wait to see what we can squeeze out of it with the tune and other supporting mods. AND... this engine had less than 200 miles on it for the final testing.

In addition to the HP gains from the exhaust install, do you think that some weight was also shed? If so, how much? I would be interested to know how many pounds are being shed in conjunction with the HP gains. Looking forward to the final report. :clap2:

You said you were planning to pick it up Tuesday. Any chance that you could get us some more videos of it driving by? Maybe driving by quickly even? :D

Just say it. You want to hear it roar by the camera at WOT. We all do. Lol

But nice to hear the subtle low tones at a cruising pace as well.

I'm sure there was a little bit. The big heavy factory cats are gone.

Are these headers supposed to be the tri-y headers they advertised at SEMA?

They just did replacement mufflers, not a full cat back, right? I'm just wondering if the stock resonators are still in place.

He said full exhaust. Nothing in his exhaust system is OEM from the headers up until the mufflers.

Unfortunately, they were not able to build a true Tri-Y design in the limited space without having primary tubes that were too long.

This is a full engineered exhaust from Header to the Cat Back.

You are almost correct. ;)

They did reuse the stock rubber dampers from the stock exhaust. And the valves for the mufflers were also reused. I know this will create more questions, but I'll try to answer them in a post just as quick as I can.

Cool so you retain the usable factory exhaust valves? How quiet is it when closed?
