I'm 51, single, homeowner, no tickets but one at fault accident.

Geico was charging me $3780 annually but I just switched over to the General which got me down to $2280 annually, which is still about double what I was paying on my BMW 3 series wagon.

When I asked a broker to figure out what the problem was they said my accident plays a small role but the big problem is the combination of car and the zip code. If I lived 35 miles away it could be as much as half that rate.

Holy. Shit. Batman. I would not own my car if it was almost 4k a year for insurance. You'd be better off renting a building and registering the car out in the middle of nowhere at that point.

That's what I was thinking. That's ridiculous!

Nice idea, but that could be insurance fraud if I ever had to make a claim on it.

Thru USAA, I pay 1300 a year.

26 years old
Mostly clean driving record (no points)
Upped coverage
1000 deductible
2500 mileage
Crazy, just moved from SC to AZ and my rates were no where near yours.

USAA
26
1000 deductible
No points

$2760 / year , only changed $42/year when I moved here, wonder why the massive difference.

Chris796 where did you live in SC? Also was it thru USAA? Funny this is I just got a quote from geico and it was 109/month for my 95 Sierra and the mustang, 500 deductibles. Full tilt highest coverage on everything. Aka right at about 1220 a year. Right now I'm floating in the 1900 range for both with 1k deductibles..

Insurance is irrational at times. I replaced a 2011 V6 PP base with this 2016 GT Premium and the premiums went DOWN by a few bucks. And they were good to start with. I have since moved to USAA.

I'm 37. Wife and I were paying $111/month for a 13 explorer and 07 tacoma 4WD. The mustang increased it by another 95 bucks. I didn't expect that much but really it's not all that terrible. I had a ticket a few years ago and an accident in 2012 that I suppose would be considered at fault. Slid into a bridge after driving right into a snow squall that didn't exist 10 seconds before. Never even had a chance to slow down really.

150.00 per month for my 15 Mustang, 16 Edge, 13 F150, and a snowmobile trailer. When I added the 15 Mustang my premium increased 50.00 per month. (GEICO)

I'm 30 with a clean record and I pay 916/yr through Travelers with new car replacement (up to 120% the cost of mine to find an equal vehicle). This is the only car I have through them.

24, pay $1850 a year here in the south suburbs of Chicago. Had a fender bender that I caused last summer, but that didn't raise my rate since I had rate protection.

49yrs, no points, NYC, 16 EB PP
Geico, full coverage, $950 6mo
GT was almost double.
We have nearly identical stats, Age, NYC, Spotless record.
Except I had a 15 GT PP

Gieco was charging me $260 per month with a $1000 deductible!

I recently traded to a new 17 GT350... Geico wanted $2160 for 6 months. That is $360 per month.

I switched to Progressive and Now pay $160 per month. $500 ded. All the other coverages are excellent and better than what I had with Geico.

Go get some new quotes.
