@Chris796 where did you live in SC? Also was it thru USAA? Funny this is I just got a quote from geico and it was 109/month for my 95 Sierra and the mustang, 500 deductibles. Full tilt highest coverage on everything. Aka right at about 1220 a year. Right now I'm floating in the 1900 range for both with 1k deductibles..

Greenville, so not even a bad area, and yup USAA

I feel like your zip code can be the one of the biggest factors in all of this. We finally sold the house I was helping the family pay mortgage on and I got into a place roughly 10-ish miles away. Changed my zipcode from 84067 (Roy, UT) to 84403 (Ogden, UT). Still part of the same county. I went from about $190 a month ($1140/6months) to $113 a month ($678/6months) just from a change of address alone with Allstate.

mine is about 392 every 6 months with Travelers, I have my home through them as well. I have $250 deductible on everything and 250/500/100 coverage with rental coverage and roadside assistance. I also have GAP right now, about $8 every 6 months I think. No points/claims, 33 years old in SC.

I'm paying a bunch with USAA, but, having been with them for 40 years in one form or another, I'm getting a Profit Sharing check of $500 to $600 from them every year.

They also make it easy to pay monthly without a finance charge like AAA.

I had Mercury insurance a few years ago and was terrified of the prospect of ever having to use it. Went back to USAA and felt a whole lot better.

Why does everyone insist on such high deductables? I am 32 no accidents paying 85 a month state farm . 100 dollar comp and 250 collision.

Easy answer. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium. I haven't had an at fault accident in over 40 years and the one I had before that did less than $100 damage to my car. Statistically, insurance premiums are a losing proposition for the insured otherwise insurance companies would go out of business. So its best to self insure (deductible) if the reductions in premiums exceed the odds you will file a claim. I've saved thousands of dollars going with high deductibles.

If you finance or lease a car, the lender will likely dictate the maximum deductible you can carry. And if you can't afford to pay for a loss, you shouldn't have a high deductible.

Just renewed with Amica. 30, no claims, no tickets. $1486 per year ($124 per month) with full coverage and $500 deductible. My last zip code was $340 cheaper per year. So it all depends.

Wesley, imho you are hanging your future out there and I sure hope you have a BIG Umbrella Policy!!! You knock out a light pole and fire hydrant you will be out of pocket with your Property Damage. And please don't hit a $100k Tesla that runs into a Ferrari and it's your fault. I've got USAA as well and an Umbrella Policy is pretty cheap, all things considered.

A number of years ago I ran into the rear end of a cargo van with a steel bumper driving my 1991 Camry. No big deal for the van. Max 10mph and nothing bent. Within 6 hours the driver had a chiropractor and a lawyer. If he'd have won and I would have had your coverage I would have lost my house and more.

Be careful, please.

Anyone have any experience with Wawanesa? Currently paying 1800 with State Farm every 6 months. Wawanesa quoted me a little over 800 every 6 months with even more coverage, making my savings close to 1000. Which also throws me off a little bit because it sounds too good to be true.

Yet, out here in LA - I've heard PLENTY of good things about Wawanesa. Online reviews though are a different story :/.
