Well, Steve from Livernois was timely calling me today. I had a long discussion about their recommendations and the estimate they gave me. It will include a significant discount off the regular price for a forged install.
Bottom line is that with the labor, parts and new dyno tune (they can tune it for more hp supposedly) and the discount my cost is about $7200. Re-using the stock heads. He said there is a 1 year warranty.
What does anyone think?

Looks like they're giving you the labor free of charge. You need to negotiate a timeline on turning all that work around.

I've seen so many performance shops drag their feet on any kind of major work like this turning a 2 week job into a 9 month endeavor - especially during racing season.

To r&r shortblock it pays 23hrs book time. Their forged shortblock is 4500. Add fluids, gaskets, and misc... Unless their labor rate is way more than 100/hr what exactly is the discount? Or are they disassembling the heads, etc?

you know they werent going to eat a penny of this! i would get some other quotes before i proceeded with the same company that blew it up the 1st time..

It's not totally unreasonable. If it were me, I'd take the "savings" and get the pro series shortblock instead of the street series. Rated to 1000hp instead of 700hp.

Do yourself a favor and try and get a quote from somewhere else, just to see where pricing is at.

With their "discount" factored in, it's not a horrible price. But if their normal price is really 4,500 in labor to install a completed shortblock.. more power to them.

$7200 out of pocket because of their shitty tune sucks. They should get you a $2000 stock ford shortblock, they put OPG/CS in it and put that in it and they can put that $2400 credit towards that. LOL. You're getting robbed!
