Can you bump it into drive from sport like the stock auto shifter?

I don't think there would be any reason you couldn't. I would think it will function just like the stock shifter.

From what I saw from the video, the guy had to press down to move from sport to drive. Unless I just imagined things.

Yes, that would be quite annoying. I am emailing him to clarify this very feature.

Even though he did in the video does not mean you need to. This works with the normal shifter shaft, and the ball just presses down on the pin on top. The pin does not lock in "S" at all; since those mechanics are controlled at the bottom section of the shifter mechanism, so you should not need to depress the ball to shift from "S" to "D". Hope this helps.

I would assume it does and follows the safety requirements so they didnt alter the function (the reverse and park lockouts without depressing)

But until someone gets one in the first batch who knows. It wouldnt be a dealbreaker to have to click from S to D honestly.

I have been corresponding with Ilja (WMgarage) this morning with a few questions. Here is the definitive answer about the locking/bumping feature:

Q: Is there any locking mechanism at all inside your lever?
A: I don't know what do you mean by locking mechanism but inside just a spring with a guide insert working together with the aluminum shaft which doesn't allow ball to spin around.

This means that yes, it will work the same as the OEM lever.
I just placed my order.

Nice. I figured such as that is just how the OEM handle works too from the disassembly photos of people doing the Sickspeed swap. The lockouts are in the mechanism in the counsel not the handle.

I placed my order at 8:30am yesterday, I think I was literally the first order- order #10001

On that note, why is neutral locked out on the Mustang without pushing the button?
On most cars, you can go between D and N without pushing the button unless you wanna go to R. This way you can just push into N without fear of going into R accidentally.

Well did this just do a "false start"? Anyone actually get theres? I am interested to know more but, definitely want a different shift ball than the 3 shown.

I am certain it will behave the same as the stock lever.

I spoke to Ilja on the phone last week. Parts are on their way to him. He changed the plastic retaining piece to metal for reliability.
The shift balls are offered in all the standard colors, and the choices and prices are on his web site. He said that they are being painted by an automotive painter with automotive paint, and with the exact color codes.

Lastly, he said that shipping is targeted to begin the third week of this month. He is on vacation this week.

I should ask him for a discount because I seem to be acting as his pre-sales support staff. :headbonk:
