I agree with your thoughts about swapping tires every year and I've always kept a second set in the past. Just curious whether anyone has done it with a single set and their results. There's a great local tire shop I go to that I trust to do as good a job as possible, but I would assume there would be issues anyway. I have a call in to them with a request for rims and so far they don't have an answer. They do a lot of wheel fitment work with the local hot rodders, but that's mostly back spacing measurements.

I tried my 19" rims from my 2011 Brembo-equipped Mustang GT, and they didn't fit due to the inner diameter of the rim not being large enough. I would like to try 2015/16 PP wheels as they might have a larger ID.

I may just have to not drive it this first winter and get rims as more options become available.
There are actually more 20" winter tires available than 19". If it were my GT350, I'd get a 20x9 and get a 255 or 265 winter tire.

I would be fine with 20" wheels if not for Michigan. I would not use that low of a profile with some of the bumps here.

Oh believe me, I understand. I lived in SE Michigan for the last two years. Awful, especially around Dearborn and Detroit.

I have had good success with Michelin Alpins in the past, but if Ford used the Pirelli I would get those.

However I agree with what others are saying, although they could probably put it in a more gentile way. There are associated costs with owning a car like this, and if those costs put you in a position where the car becomes cost prohibitive for ownership then you need to decide what is the most cost effective solution for you to own it.

My personal choice would be to spend $2000 - $2500 on a decent beater, adjust my insurance coverage, and sell the beater in the spring for probably not much less than you paid for it if at all. Buy the right vehicle and you might be able to flip it for a profit in the spring.

Agreed here. If I could afford a GT350, I'd also be making enough money so that it would not be my DD. I'd still put winter performance tires (like Alpins or Sottozeros) on it so I could drive it occasionally on nicer days in the Dec-Mar part of the year. Props to anyone who does DD it, and no judgement here, as I'm driving my GT through the winter for the forseeable future.

I have limited parking in my current living situation so it's one car for me. But I have family that leave cars in the winter when they go south so I'll be using one of those.

Ok, I've narrowed down GT350 snow tires to Pirelli, and 3 different ones. Ford Performance was no help at all, but I have spoken to a couple tire reps. They SAY the 275's should work, and that a 275/40 is the same height as a 295/35, but when I calculate it, the 275/40 is actually 6mm higher than the 295/35.

275/40 is still rated for 9-11" rims, so it should fit the width of both front and rear STOCK wheels.

Considering thinner is better for winter tires, does anyone think the 6mm extra height of 275/40 will pose a clearance issue for the GT350? Or is it a "try it and see to be sure" type of situation?

Here are the three potential best tire options in question:

If your going to daily drive your Mustang, I would have a 2nd set of rims and tires. Other wise you have to change the tires over twice a year.
Doing this allows for a better chance of beating up the rims etc.
the cost over a few years pays for the rims and you can do it at home in about
30 minutes. I have a couple of cars I do this to yearly. Winter wheels are not that expensive.
This is exactly what I do with my MINI and work van. A second set of rims saves lots of wear and potential damage.

295/35x19 rear and 285/35x19 front. Pirellis

These look to be almost identical in diameter vs stock setup. Am getting a set of MMR ft01 mesh wheels. I plan on using as DD. Truck for snowy days but otherwise voodoo all the way :D

6mm is approx a 1/4 inch, there will not be any clearance issues. The GT with the Performance Package comes with 275/40 -19s on the back and lots of folks have go to that size on the front to get a square setup.

I bought MMD Axim wheels from American Muscle. I bought the 19x8.5 size because my existing snow tires should fit on them (255 40 R19). That is the widest tire to fit the 8.5" size, but according to my tire guy it's no problem. According to the American Muscle web site there are a few of the MMD rims that fit the GT350.

I will let you know how they fit when I receive them.

Awesome! I think I know the wheels you're talking about, if they are the black 2015-16 GT ones. I'll look forward to hearing what you think of how the wheels fit the GT350 as well.

Did you get the tire pressure sensors on the wheels you ordered?

I was hoping to not have to spend money on another set of wheels, however, I figure it would cost at least $200+ a year just to mount and balance both sets of tires to the original wheels...so it's probably worth it in the long run.

I was planning to use the TPMS sensors from my existing "winter" rims, but normally you would want to purchase TPMS sensors, yes.

For what it's worth I called American Muscle last week and they told me they don't currently offer any wheels that will fit the GT350. Looking for some clarity if anyone knows otherwise. Thanks!
