Winter Tires for 18x9 Wheels

Hey guys, I’m going to get some 18x9 wheels for winter tires. What size should I be looking for? The factory wheels/tires are 255/40R19 and 275/40R19. Tirerack told me the 245-55R18’s I was looking at are too narrow. I want a bit more sidewall than the OEM 19’s to help protect against pothole damage a bit.

Fit the narrowest winter tire you can on there with an aspect ratio of 50/55. 235/55/18 as as example.

I wouldn’t buy 9” wide wheels for winters. 8-8.5” are best with a 225-235mm tire.

Thanks for the reply! The same company (OE Wheels) also makes a 19x8.5. Would that be the better option? Shorter sidewall on that one, of course.

235/40 maybe. Or 235/45

Trust me I daily drove a 16 Mustang on them and an 18 Mustang on them in North Dakota for years.

235 55 R18 Blizzak dmv2 is rated to an 8.5 inch wide wheel. If I was in a jam, I would try to stretch these onto an 18x9.
