Hi everyone,

My V6 has the issue of the door glasses rattle as I close the doors. My brother has the GT350 and his doesn't have this issue. I was wondering if anybody has noticed this issue and if there's some way to minimize or eliminate this rattling? I checked on the parts numbers between the V6 and GT350 and they share exactly the same part numbers. My windows don't have wind noise or water leak whatsoever. I'd appreciate any help.

Bring the door closer into the body by adjusting the metal u-shaped B-pillar door catch. Loosen the (2) torx screws (do not remove), slide catch towards interior. Tighten torx screws and test door to make sure it closes properly; you should notice less “bounce” or rattle from the window.

I did this on my prior 2016 and it worked.

Damn I think you’re right, I will double check the door alignment and get back with the results. Thank you so much for the tip.

I adjusted the door striker plate. My doors were slightly misaligned and now they are at the correct location. All the body lines are aligned. However adjusting the doors only cured the problem marginally. It barely fixed it. Is there any other steps I can take to eliminate the glass rattling as the door is shut? In older cars there use to be two adjustment plates inside the doors which were lined with felt pushing against the glass to restrict glass movements, but I'm not sure if the S550 has them. Any Suggestions?

Did the dealer perform the door latch recall on this car? If so, the windows had to be removed, so maybe they didn't get the windows installed right upon reassembly.

Here ya go... good luck if you attempt the window alignment yourself, it’s really involved:

Thank you so much, that’s fantastic. I will try to take the measurments to see if it’s within the parameters, if not , I’ll take it to dealership. Man that’s involved quite a lot.

I have the same problem with my 2016. When I close the door, the window rattles like hell. I tried to fix it myself but I couldn't find any obvious place where I could tighten any screws or such.

Can someone please point me where are those specific nuts? Thanks.

Hi Cristian. Welcome to the forum. Did you read Cobra Jet’s post? The locations are shown in the illustrations.

If your windows don't leak , don't touch them. The last thing you want is l a leaking window. I learned that if I shut the door with the least amount of force necessary to close my car's doors, they don't rattle at all.

When you open driver door (or passenger) - on the B-pillar (or some refer to it as the door jamb area), you will see a large steel U-shaped catch (can’t miss it). That catch has 2 very large Torx style bolts. I can’t recall the Torx size, it may be a T45 or T50 - but those are the 2 bolts you need to loosen and move the catch closer to the interior.

If that does not work, you then need to follow the inductions posted for realigning the actual door glass. The door glass realignment is involved and if you feel it’s too complex to follow, don’t do it, otherwise you could end up with more of a problem than you started with originally....

Thanks for your input. I was trying to avoid the realignment because looks really complicated. I'm also hoping that vertical alignment and the rattle are two different issues. I also added (perhaps exaggerated) with sound deadening, covering most of the holes...

I'll let you know how it goes.

On a second note, I'm also experience strong wind noise at 80+ mph, specially in the winter. Is this usually related to the vertical glass alignment?
