Oh yeah, good point. You don't feel the sun beating down on your arm while you're driving on a hot day, which will happen on a non tinted car.

Yes it helps tremendously. Mine came with windshield tint. Not something I would have done myself, buts it's been very nice in this Arizona summer.

I just picked up my new to me 2017 Vert and had the windows tinted the next day. 20 on sides and back and 50 on entire windshield with a XPel Prime XR Plus. It makes a significant difference in radiant heat. When the car is parked it will still get hot inside due to thermal conduction however, the blistering effect is lowered. I noticed my dash felt much cooler when under direct sunlight after tinting. It’s not “cool” but defiantly not scalding hot anymore.

I also use a covercraft windscreen when parked to aid in reducing conduction through the windshield.

20% on sides and 70% on windshield for me (all ceramic). It makes a difference for sure in the GA heat.

Same here and I have to change my sticker annually. One of the biggest reasons front tint was a no-go for me

Front tint isn't really worth it. The rock pits look really bad imo, like white marks on a black background. I have it and it is nice for sun but I'm going to have to replace it eventually and when I do, I'm not tinting it again.

You can polish glass and remove many of the dings.

Yeah there were enough reasons not to do it, more than reasons to do it, so I decided not to. No regrets so far

I really don't think you can do this with rock pits. You need to actually fill in the little crevice I believe.

True, it’s dependent on how deep the dings are. I have three vehicles with windshield tint of at least 50% or darker, no issues after a combined 59K miles between them.

Personally i prefer 35% on the sides and 20% in the back, and none on the front windshield though I understand they do have some clear ceramic films as well.

Especially if you do night time driving, 20% is fairly dark for that.

Right, the factory dyed glass? Our CX5 has that, but only in the rear passenger windows. Front windows are not treated.

And most of those aren’t actually tinted, the glass has a dye layer in it which offers zero thermal protection.

Any of you all that have tinted side or back windows that are below the legal limits of your state laws ever have issues with cops pulling you over for the dark tint. I believe my state is 32 or 34% for front side and back windows and no tint below the ASI line on front windshield.

I had a 97 black maxima that was I believe 20% on all windows except the windshield and got stopped by a trooper on I-20 and told it had to be removed, never did remove it and drove it for 16 years after that without ever getting stopped again.

Just curious how may have been stopped for too dark of tint.

I’ve never been stopped for tint, in fact I haven’t been stopped for anything in nearly 15 years.
